So much packed in this story. Where to start. I am 73, been married for 55 years, bore three amazing kids who are grown and married to wonderful people and have 16 grands. I was married at 18, hubby was in the military. Now, looking back, I can certainly relate to Jenny as we have lived on our little patch of heaven out in the middle of nowhere. I worked just a few years on and off, but not many. Most of the time I was home raising my kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry, helping with animals, had my flock of chickens, we keep a huge garden, canning, butchering the animals we raise for our larder. There were times when not much money was to be had. This story is a perfect example of how we, as wives and mothers, AND home keepers really set the pace and feeling of the family. Husbands are strong and determined, tough, yet tender when needed, and look to us for strength, help, our opinions and working things out as well as a lot of love. I grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, just a middle class home, Dad worked as a butcher and Mom was the keeper of our home. I always felt safe, well cared for, and very loved and I have tried to do that with our family. Oh, there were days when kids were little, not much money, hard work here getting things done and the house was a hot mess, but I always tried to make up for it the following day. I am not perfect by any means, don't claim to be, but I had great examples of wonderful women in my life growing up in my Mom and my Grandma's that taught me. Being a wife and mother is the hardest work anyone will ever do whether you are working at home, from the home or going out into the business world. Yes, there are hard days and sometimes weeks, but there is always tomorrow to "catch up and start fresh". Thanks for this wonderful story. Reminds all of us what really matters.

Cami, I loved the story and haven’t read any of the comments before writing this. Maybe it’s my older age, but I saw it as a beautiful picture of God’s design and purpose between men & women. Women, by nature, are nurturers. I stayed at home when my children were little (had no family nearby to help shoulder the load), but made it through good and bad times. I’ve worked real hard through my 70 years…at home, on a farm, and behind a business desk. Life was so much better when both husband and I were not working outside the home. But even when we both had to work at outside jobs, it got harder, for sure, to keep those home fires burning, but not impossible. We had to become very intentional and keep our eyes on the goal of God first, then our marriage, and then the children. It was quite a juggling act at times. Both people cannot be equals, nor become nothing more than co-workers, like I felt was happening to the couple in the story. But when the “Queen” rode by, woman to woman, the queen lovingly mentored the young woman and helped her see things with new eyes. This is why mentoring is so very important. And realizing that our Creator DID create us in very unique and beautifully different ways. My hubby and I have been married now for nearly 50 years, raised two daughters, and blessed with 7 grandchildren. And we love each other more and more as we get older because many years ago we recognized the difference and beauty in each of our God given roles. Thanks, again, for your wonderful podcasts and videos! Keep up the good work of serving God and your family!

Cami, when I watched you read this some time ago it really struck something in me too. It helped me to let some things go after hearing it. And for the better. I have always loved tproverbs 31 woman. But there is a balance to all things! And finding our place next to our husband is one of the greatest gifts God has given us keepers of the home. As proverbs suggests at the end of chapter 31 they had praise and admiration for each other, what could be greater! Thankyou for bringing this story to our attention!

What a beautiful topic for a podcast, Cami! The different seasons of our lives involve varying degrees of failure and success. I think traditional gender roles serve families best but unfortunately 2 incomes are almost necessary these days, I believe by design. With my kids now in their 40s, I believe there is no greater gift to humanity than to be fully present for our family. This handwritten note is over my kitchen sink: "We are the homemakers, gathered for good." May God bless us with wisdom and discernment as we traverse the unknown territory that lies before us. 💕

I just found your channel through watching the video where Pine and prospect and Farmhouse on Boone came to visit your beautiful home. I have to admit I was very envious and made judgement on you then thinking how did they get this gorgeous home and all your lovely things and you decorated it so perfectly. Oh they must have really good jobs or your husband must, but listening to you today I realize how much I do pre judge people, I try not too and I know it’s only human. So I wanted to thank you for sharing and being so honest about your struggles, I will try not to judge people because I know you never know what they are going through or had to go through to get what they have. So glad I found your channel and podcast, wish you so much success and love xxx

WOW TRACY! Thank you so much for being vulnerable with me today. It warmed my heart so much. I too struggle with pre judging - I think it is the natural man that we have to fight daily! Yes, our home that we have sacrificed much for has taken us 4 years to build ourselves, and it was such a delight to bring my friends here and share in this moment. Knowing they were coming motivated us to finish up a lot of loose ends, and it feels so good now. I am truly appreciative of your comment and willingness to learn more about me by watching my content. Means the world and has humbled me as well. Hope you'll stop by again and comment again so we can stay connected! Thank you!

I have LOVED this - the story, and your comments!! I have listened to the story over and over. I am much older than you, and I worked all my life up until retirement age. I don't have any way of knowing how different our lives would have been had I not worked - but I am now certainly enjoying my role as keeper of the home. I am trying to let this story even lead me now at this older age. Thank you so much for sharing!!

Thank you Cami For your honesty and vulnerability. I find myself wanting to just be the keeper of our home but so many things come at us to keep us from that. Today I was able to be home and I felt such joy as I worked around my home. Your podcast is one of my favourites and I would give you a five out of five. Looking forward to hearing more from you. God bless!

Thank you for reading the Story " When queens ride by". You are the first lady that I have heard read a story. I love to hear when people take time to read to others. It helps get the whole vibe, not every reader can capture the attention of those that listen. I imagined being there and watching it. The Queen was kind and gentle, Jenny didn't live the queens life, it seemed like a dream to Jenny. That surely isn't my life. My life was not quite like Jenny's but my perception of life was. The queen gave Jenny HOPE, Hope is what will get you through life. I will definitely pass this down to my DAUGHTERS. thank you ❤🙏🙏

Thank you for sharing this lovely story and your own soul with us, Cami. Even though I am older than you and Jenny and in a different season, I am still vulnerable to all of these feelings. I can see a lot of application in my life

Oh man, Cami, this story hit me upside the head! I am definitely a work-worn Jennie, nose to the grindstone, gotta-get-all-this-done kind of woman. “No time for play, look at all this fruit falling off the trees!” There is so much for me to think about in this story. While I’ve been a lifelong homemaker, only working outside the home for short periods of time when needed, I haven’t been a highway woman. This inspires me to change a few things and to pray about a lot more. Thank you so much for sharing this story and for being so vulnerable in the commentary!
