Was at the 1983 US Festival, day 3, to see the return of David Bowie after five years of not touring. HUMONGOUS crowd! And so Hot!! The line-up that day was as follows - Los Lobos Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul Quarterflash Berlin Missing Persons U2 The Pretenders Joe Walsh Stevie Nicks David Bowie. This was the fourth time I saw David Bowie out of the nineteen time I saw him total from 1974 to 2004. I didn't actually see Los Lobos this day as they played on a side stage.

Numbers don't matter in the long run-nothing will ever top Woodstock, 3 Days of Peace and Music-sheer number of great performances unequaled, thrown together in a short time despite many problems (Max Yasgur saved the day)-everybody who was there considers it a seminal event in their life-I was there (2nd day was my birthday)-it will never be forgotten-it was the first super sized event and will never be paralleled even if later concerts had bigger crowds-it was also in 1969 and was for those 3 unforgettable days the 2nd largest city in New York state

Honestly, I have not heard even one of their songs. Heard the name tho, so I know they have been one of the so-called "great" American bands.

I went too see Metallica in Quebec City in 2011, it was an outdoor show so those of us who couldn’t get into the concert site gathered around it. If you included us, I’d like to know how many people were there. Given the city only has a population of 800 000, probably nowhere near 1 000 000 but I’d still like to know.

According to a Radio-Canada article, "More than 110,000 people attended Metallica's show on the Plains of Abraham on Saturday evening, as part of the Festival d'été de Québec". According to the Journal de Québec, "In front of the biggest crowd in the history of the Summer Festival, Metallica fulfilled the expectations of its 115,000 fans packed on the Plains of Abraham on Saturday evening".

@@gymguy25 I only looked for this information out of curiosity. Sorry for not being able to answer you officially on this. But it wouldn't be surprising if there were more people than official figures show. I remember Pink Floyd's first show at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in 1977, the official figures were 78,322 spectators, but according to some stadium gatekeepers, the number of spectators was well over 80,000 or even nearly 85,000 people.

@@PixelVibe-RGB I know the site was full because I tried to get in but couldn't, so I went up the Citadelle on its highest point so I could watch the concert from there, many others were with me and I saw plenty of people in the distance around the concert site. I was wondering if the 110 000 or 115 000 included us or not.
