HATEOS is used by clients to make decisions to navigate related resources with embedded links making APIs more discoverable. How does it help in documenting APIs? Is it by making them discoverable? Problems with REST APIs is that it does't standardize error handling making them differ between third-party APIs.

Great question! HATEOAS doesn’t fully replace traditional API documentation. While it helps navigate API flows, developers still need to understand request formats, authentication, and expected responses. As for REST APIs, you're spot on-one big challenge is the lack of standardized error handling. Different third-party APIs handle errors in their own ways, making it harder for developers to predict and handle failures consistently. Standards like RFC 7807 (Problem Details for HTTP APIs) try to address this by providing a structured error response, but not all APIs adopt it.
