I learn Japanese. When I was younger, I used to learn it like they teach you in school. You know, pushing vocabulary and grammar in my head. And the Kanji, oh my god. I forgot so much from that time. But I've been learning it again for some weeks now. Differently than before, though, and it doesn't get frustrating at all. I love the sound of Japanese and I love to write it! My reasons are not anime and manga, even though I like anime. It is for the sak eof learning Japanese, not any specific use. It's just a beautiful language.

I didn't have a lot of time to look at it, but I like that they have these short films

"There's something called "pitch accent" but I honestly never had any problem with it, so I'm sure you'll be fine too..." Yeah, that's exactly the problem of those who teach and learn Japanese. HAshi wo MIru... I see chopstics. haSHI WO MIru - I see a bridge. haSHI wo MIru - I see the end. Just because you don't focus on pitch does not mean it's not important. Most students' accents in Japanese are abysmal for this specific reason, because they ignore on what mora the pitch should actually go. The Japanese may understand you, because they're smart enough to decipher it... But Japanese is a language of context and with very limited amounts of sounds (around 50), so there are a lot of homophones.. And the way they distinguish many of those homophones is through pitch. KI (wa)... Tree. ki (WA) - Energy, spirit...

When I found out that most of the things I was interested in as a kid were from Japan, it made me take an interest in the country. The culture, the food, the media, etc. I also love a challenge and Japanese is probably one of the hardest languages for an English speaker to learn, so when I decided I wanted to learn a language, choosing Japanese was a no brainer. I've been learning for about 2 years now. :D

Learning Katakana felt soooo rewarding when I was in Japan. It's like all of a sudden, there's a whole world of information available to you, since they are mostly foreign words. And they are everywhere, so it's easy to practice them just by walking around and reading your surroundings. In 3 days, I was able to recognize most of them. It's definitely a fun language to learn. Whenever you try to build a sentence in an agglutinative language, it's like you're solving a little puzzle every time, assembling the right pieces together in the right place.

Great video! Another thing is that in this computer age, whether a language is easier or harder to use with keyboard is important. With a language like Chinese, you not only have to know the tone but the right pinyin. AND there are a host of meanings for every phoneme but with different hanja... one sound, but numerous characters and meanings. Japanese is a lot easier to use with keyboard because the key steps are simple, the sounds are consistent and uniform, and it is essentially like a syllabary.
@mj_shin08856 жыл бұрын
About the tones.. Japanese have words which you must pronounce with different tone in order to specify the world's meaning. For example: Ame and ame (candy and rain), hashi and hashi (chopsticks and bridge)

Thank you so much for the video!! I'm learning japanese on my own and it's a really interesting and fun language, I already speak Spanish, English and Italian and Japanese grammar is something I've never seen or heard before (I'm in LOVE with kanji)!! I started learning because, not only I love anime and manga and I'm dying to understand every word out there without the need of translations or subtitles, but also because I'm deeply in love with Japan and it's culture (their shops, vending machines, dressing, technology, different destinies...). The top reason that made me decide on Japanese actually was it's legends and folklores, as well as their AMAZING shrines! I really want to travel to Japan and buy books that talk about them (and also lot's of manga and novels, jeje) and be eable to find my own resources, not always depend on translations that, although they are awesome and I'm really grateful for them, in my experience there's nothing as satisfying as understanding another language. Thanks you so much for all of your videos, your editing keeps getting better and better, we all really do appreciate them!!

So my reasoning is different than a lot of people. I don't care about watching non subbed or dubbed anime (i do like anime but I don't mind dubs/subs). I really like *doing* things. That sounds stupid, but I really just learning things, and learning an eastern language would be something great to do because of how different it from western language. That aside, I do just have an interest in Japan, manga, ghibli, the difference in culture etc but I still just find the concept of learning such a different language intriguing

I *don't* study Japanese. But I've read a few things about it. I find really intriguing the following things: #1. The three "Alphabets" (actually, one collection of logograms (Kanji), which are pretty much the same as the Chinese logograms "Hanzi", and two syllabaries (Hiragana and Katakana) ). #2. Hiragana being used for Japanese words whereas Katakana being used for foreign words. #3. The way Kanjis, if combined with Hiragana, work. A Kanji is often the root of a verb and Hiragana is the suffix for conjugation. And it works pretty much as "4tune" ("Fortune", being "4" as "Kanji" and "tu"-"ne" as "Hiragana"). #4 The two different ways to read Kanjis: "On Reading" (Chinese sound-based reading, written in Katakana scripts) and "Kun Reading" (Japanese meaning-based reading, written in Hiragana scripts).

I'd like in the future teachers who teach languages will be like you and ppl who teach tips in YT... I stop loving English at the age of 8 and till 17 I've never learn anything form school. Now I can keep a conversation with anybody cuz the effort I put myself and thinking the time and the money a country is losing ccuz of the bad teachers that only follow the Rules very straight. This make me feel like learning other languages by myself. In internet we have everything, but we need to know how to search and find the good sources... That could be a new school subject cuz any kid could be lost in a vast sea of information.

I loved the particles from the outset as they allow you to drop large parts of a sentence, and they allow you to be more flexible in your sentence building. It helps when speaking if you forget to include a detail when you can often just insert it.
