No camera I have ever used feels better in the hand than the G9. Panasonic clearly put a lot of time into the ergonomics of this camera. It's just a joy to pick up and use. I switched from Sony to Panasonic and INSTANTLY noticed a huge improvement in color science. I can deal with spotty autofocus in video on the G9 when the stabilization, color and features blow my old a6300 out of the water. G9 10-bit 4k is absolutely beautiful. I love the Natural picture profile. With the excellent IBIS you can use some Olympus glass... The Olympus PRO lenses are absolutely incredible on this body. I have the 12-40 2.8, the 40-150 2.8 and the portrait champion the 45mm 1.8. The G9 is one of the best hybrid cameras ever with good glass!

With the advent of the G9II, the G9 is even greater value. You can pick up an excellent pre-owned one for around €500~600. The combo with the Leica 8-18, 12-60 and/or 50-200 lenses is an incredible travel set that pretty much covers everything. The build quality is still exceptional as is the handling. Even after 5 years amongst the best. I use Leica and Hasselblad gear professionally, but whenever I need something very versatile for personal travels, this is the one to take.

Considering the G9 was 5 years ahead of its time :) it's still 1 year ahead of its time. I love it, I have two as you know. I'm really glad you're taking the time to tell everyone about the G9. In the KZbin world you doubt yourself if your camera is last years model. Haahaha. You are 100 per cent right about everything you say. New in the U.S. $1,000. I will NEVER sell them. They will just be used for different purposes as time goes by. The only thing I will do is obtain a (most likely Lumix) full frame body for those hight detail, low light needs. On Black and White you're right. Beautifuuuuul B&W pics. As you pointed out about the kit being able to be put together fairly economically, every time I look at the FF lens prices I just have to laugh and gulp at the same time. I really don't need anything else. Crazy with some KZbinrs using a $3-5 K camera for channel videos. Keep up the campaign Grant. I love your style and easy going manner.

The panasonic line is really amazing packed full Of features even the g7 is great. A lot of Ppl dont mention the cameras ability to create timlapse videos in 4k at 24 or 30 fps right in camera . A feature sony tends to overlook. Thanks for the great video.

The G9 is a fantastic camera, and I love the quality of MFT lenses. Nearly every one is a gem. There is also a huge number of lenses to choose, including the Sigma f1.4 primes. The Sigma 56/1.4 is a gorgeous portrait lens. A G9 II with great PDAF is something I might go for, especially if it had lower noise at high ISO. I believe the format still has a lot more potential with the advancement in sensors. It will forever hold an advantage in lens sizes, which is something I really appreciate. Long live MFT!

Great video Grant. I was very fortunate to pick up a very lightly used Panasonic G9 for $600 AUD and I'm extremely happy with it. I fully agree with all the points you made and in particular the connectivity/Panasonic app. Super handy and awesome for many applications which unfortunately isn't mentioned enough. I love this camera so much that I'm considering selling my G7 and G85 to get another G9 in the near future. I think these days if one can find it used in good condition for less than $1000 then it's a no brainer!

The G9 is a camera with features and quality that came before it's time. I have owned it since 2018, I got it with the 12 to 60 Leica lens. It takes wonderful picture if you use a tripod or handheld with the right settings and the right postproduction software, you can get great pictures in low light as well. A G9 successor is mandatory, I wish Panasonic would listen to its loyal customers and create what we are anticipating next. Back light illuminated sensor 24 to 32 megapixel CMOS sensor, one or two more stops a stabilization, and maybe just maybe perfected current technology autofocus or a switch to phase detect like the other use. I would buy in a minute keep it at $2000 or below in a cell like hotcakes. Come on Panasonic, like Nike "just do it"! Please

I love everything about the G9, IBS is crazy good colours are awesome 4k@60 fps, flippy screen and great battery life. weather proof lenes are cheaper and the list goes on. Even tho I have a few high end Sony camera's I'll never part with my G9 it's a beast of a camera, way ahead of it's time. Others didn't have half the amazing features that the lumix camera's came out with. I just wish they would have changed their AF system when in video mode, but once you know how to work with the Lumix AF it's not that bad.

Great video and very compelling. I am seriously considering a used LUMIX G9 as a hybrid camera for wildlife and b-roll. However, on the video side I’ve heard some people say the autofocus isn’t reliable for video. Having said that, do you use autofocus when shooting video on the G9 and have you had any issues with the autofocus when shooting video? Thank you!

They need to add PDAF to the next sensor (Mk II) I started with the G7 which can do a fair job on video but the G9 is a big improvement. I really like the bright view finder.
