These flowers will fill your garden year after year with blooms without you ever having to buy seeds again. Most "annual" flowers have to be replanted every year, but these 9 varieties are such prolific seed producers that they will do the job for you!

I am planning on making big flower garden in part of my allotment plot and was searching for perennial flowers so I can plant it once and then it just regrows each season. Thanks for these suggestions, I wasn't considering self seeding annuals, but now I am.

Yes, there is a house down the street with a huge patch of cosmos each summer. I don't think they replant any of it!

Such a great video! Alex wants a cut flower garden badly. We just don't have the time with all of our other projects. This year she's going to mix flowers into our vegetable garden. I think my clock is up after this season and I need to finally till up a large plot for her flower dreams.

Yep, one step at a time. I never used to include flowers in my garden (other than marigolds to deter pests) I didn't feel like I could justify the cost for something I couldn't eat! So I started with growing edible flowers, and then fell in love with having the flowers in the garden. I felt like the "joy" from the beauty of the flowers was worth as much as the food:-)

Thank you for this video! Where are you located? I'm in zone 8b in north Louisiana
@wanderingstarfarmhouse
@wanderingstarfarmhouse 2 жыл бұрын
I'm in Indiana. In 8b you may see some of these start growing in the fall and overwinter. It gives them a head-start in the spring for earlier blooms.

Thank you for this video. Does this mean that if I buy and spread these seeds randomly in the ground, there's a good chance to actually have these flowers?
@wanderingstarfarmhouse
@wanderingstarfarmhouse 2 жыл бұрын
If you are planting some place new I would recommend laying down about 1-2 inches of compost first and sprinkling the seeds over that. Keep the compost damp with water until the seeds begin to sprout. (In warmer climates the best time of year to do it is in the fall). If they grow well for you that first year they will have no trouble coming back each year.

I have the perfect place for these seeds! Are these also good for hummingbirds?
@wanderingstarfarmhouse
@wanderingstarfarmhouse 2 жыл бұрын
Some good hummingbird flowers that are easy to grow from seed are delphinium and zinnia. Bee balm is also good and is a perennial so it will return each year!

Awesome! Would they self seed if there's mulch?
@wanderingstarfarmhouse
@wanderingstarfarmhouse 2 жыл бұрын
I think they would grow if there's mulch, unless you are laying a thick layer of fresh mulch in the spring before they've sprouted.
