I got promoted twice in a row in corporate for just keeping my head down and working hard - and as a woman, too. Corporate gets a bad rep for being about office politics but not all companies are built equal. If you're at a company with the right values, you don't need to play golf with the boss to get noticed.

If anything he’s giving that kiss ass idea for the lazy folks watching this like it might just work if I golf with the bosses instead of working harder than the guy or gal next to me

Awesome video. Here are few things that helped me improve and become satisfied with myself in the last six months: 1. I stopped making excuses and took full control of my life 2. I read all books from Mindbloomery. It's a game changer 3. I cut all toxic habits and cut down a screen time by a lot 4. I started journaling my ups and downs every day I used to think being rich is all about luck, but as someone said long time ago : 'Luck comes to those who work hard'.

The habits mentioned in this video fail to account for illusory superiority. Rich people tend to assume they are above average because they are rich (Belmi et al, 2019, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology). Wealthy people will consistently downplay birth and social station as reasons for success. They're also demonstrably more likely to lie for advantage (see Piff et al, 2012, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences). In all likelihood lying to themselves and everyone else about what works. I'd argue asking rich people how to get rich is the least scientific or effective way to go about it because they are prone to their own class-specific species of magical thinking. EDIT: For simplicity, Some More News did an episode called "Are Rich People Okay?" which summarises why you should take anything they claim about personal habits with a large grain of salt.

I reached $138k today. Thank you for all the knowledge and insights you've shared with me over the past few months. I began this journey in October 2024. Financial education is essential for over 70% of the population, as only a few are truly literate in this area. Thanks so much Kimberly Ann Doran .

The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.

I find it peculiar how, in the first point, the creator so easily accepted a mediocre guy getting a promotion because he was golf buddies with leadership. So much so that this guy is now suggesting we all do this. Yet God forbid someone who looks different and actually worked hard to get where they are gets promoted, the same people will be calling it affirmative action or DEI. Lols, you clearly don’t actually care about meritocracy so who pretend you do?
@shyhxiangyew31447 күн бұрын
same exact thoughts, put me off immediately with that example. I understand the narrative is about surrounding yourself with people who are ambitious to influence ourselves but rewarding someone mediocre just because they play "social golf" with management just feels wrong

almost entirely safe, predictable index funds. Just for fun, I hold one share of Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Berkshire Hathaway. If real estate takes a dive, I’m going to buy the dip and invest in some REIT’s.

I'm about to get a new job for a great deal of $. I've been playing with investing for a long while, but at the scale of tens, that I've turned into hundreds. Now that I about to get a larger scale job, hopefully, I can invest hundreds and turn them into thousands. I found this channel a few days ago while looking up investment strategies, and I love it. Great content creation skills. I love the simple explanations, the editing, and the strategies are realistic. I've been binging your videos. Thanks so much, and when I get this new job, I can't wait to increase my portfolio.

I'm sorry Vincent, whenever you talk about being treated unfairly and taken advantage of at work and elsewhere, the main reason must be because you're Asian American and Chinese American, and this causes people to devalue, underestimate, be one-sided, etc. A non-Asian (or perhaps different Asian ethnicity) can be worse in various ways (worse dressed, lazier, stupider, meaner, worse LinkedIn), but still be treated with more respect, valued more, and seen as a equal. Asian Americans (especially Chinese) need to try much harder to get much less, and I've known that throughout my life. That's always the elephant in the room when Chinese American creators, authors, and other notable people talk about difficulties, and how to manage or overcome them. The Asian/Chinese penalty is so severe in America and other countries that we need to try much harder, problem-solve, and improve more to reduce our penalty, be treated more fairly, and be on more even keel with other races/ethnicities. People are quick to see many Asians/Chinese as easy to take advantage of, and act disrespectfully, while they won't be like that to non-Asians who are more plain, unstylish, poor communicators, etc.

High Yield Savings account with about 3-6 months worth of your expenses is a solid place to start I believe. Maybe start with 3, then use some to pay off smaller monthly debts to lower your monthly expenses. If your good on debts I’d invest some. Ultimately you won’t want to spend it, it would be best to use lump sums to bring down monthly expenses and give you some cushion.
@meep40387 күн бұрын
Look at tax deductions because I’m pretty sure it’s technically still taxable income, I also agree with jmjon2012 put money in high interest, handle your debts and if you do buy stuff buy things that will improve your day to day to give you more time.
