I like the soap idea, but My home is older with older pipes. Pieces like the lavender and zest can actually clog the drain after time.
@taffykins27455 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. So that's a no go for me too
@bodyofhope4 жыл бұрын
Good point. Try this! Sprinkle Epsom salt and colored sugar at the bottom of the molds. Color 2 different batches of hot soap, and add a different essential oil to each batch. Pour the bottom half of the mold with a color like pink. Let it firm up, then finish filling the mold with your other batch of soap (purple for example). Makes a beautiful ombre 2-tone effect, and no little bits down the drain.

For anyone wondering, you can make a wick out of string. Just dip it in melted wax and let it dry for a minute.

The exfoliating scrub: beware for those on your gifting list. If they have high blood pressure the Himalayan pink salt can permeate the skin and cause a spike
@Daniella00206 жыл бұрын
Severus Webber salt is generally not a good idea as a scrub. Many people shave under the shower and may have little cuts here and there... I did a diy salt scrub once and never again...

I’m afraid you’ve heard some misinformation. Excess sodium in the DIET can exacerbate hypertension (high blood pressure.) If you look at the Periodic Table, sodium is a metal. It doesn’t absorb into the body transdermally in any type of substantial way. Were that the case, the salt in our OWN SWEAT would cause strokes and heart attacks. 😊
@AllisonLinner4 жыл бұрын
Daniella Yes, you’re absolutely right. Salt, sugar, or other physical exfoliants cause microscopic tears in the skin, opening up to infection and scarring over time. Chemical exfoliants used properly are the safe way to exfoliate your skin. And all this is especially important for skin on the face!

Citlalli Ramirez just a tip, I’d check the ingredients of your oils, for example, if you have lavender, it should be safe to eat. But if it says it’s not safe to eat, it’s probably not a good oil. Just want you to be safe, because you could be inhaling chemicals.

Got an Idea for the soap! Instead of buying dried lavender and stuff, just break open tea bags and use those! Teas come in varieties of herbs and flavors. And I think you can just use those Ivory soaps instead of buying soap base..... I mean if you wanna go natural then maybe u shouldn't... but it's cheaper! XD

How do you dry lemon zest and lavender seeds, and what happens if you don't dry them?
@addiebarr82255 жыл бұрын
You could put them under a heavy book for a couple of days, or let it dry in the sun for a couple days as well. And if you don't let them dry they would rot..... the orange rind at least.... and the lavender would just look weird after a couple of days.

People who think essential oils are safe as water should try applying cinnamon oil to their skin. That sure taught me. I barfed my guts out and was nauseous all day. Cinnamon oil is also great in dissolving most plastics.
@addiebarr82255 жыл бұрын
It's because it's made out of herbs. Certain herbs won't go well together.... meaning they can be dangerous, and should not be put on your skin.... just talk to someone who knows about this stuff.... or don't mix them. unless its a well known and safe combination
@shannoncarlson69605 жыл бұрын
I think the point is by diluting them and using only one or two oils per item is ok. However everything should be labelled. It's up to the individual using it to know their body. We touch thousands of oils and materials every day. Food products, metal rails, wooden chairs, brooms, plastics, subway, clothing, etc. Calm down.
