These sailors are all to be admired, I admire them. Their sailing exploits and their documentaries have added much to sailing for ordinary cruisers ordinary people like me! And they have inspired me to cross an ocean. But I have to confess that Wild Man - Erik Andrea, sailing north of the Arctic circle, in wintertime, he takes the cake!

Erik and Hugo are inspirational. Sam is just a little crazy but he's gotten better - he now actually has AIS to help avoid being struck by passing ships while dozing off in the shipping lanes....and with a few more near misses in fog, he may actually be convinced to splurge for a radar (eyeroll)

This is a great idea to get channels more subs and and the viewers more enjoyment. This one has back ground music too loud and dominant. Keep doing what you do. I prefer proper sailing/cruising rather than T's & A's but I won't knock them for it as it gets the clicks. Last one showed no boat details. It is Contessa 35. Very nice!

I read the story of Robin Lee Graham and "Dove" about 45 years ago. It was very inspiring but I thought about it and realized that I would probably never be able to do that. I was beginning my undergrad Bio degree at the time. MAYBE! Just MAYBE I would be able to follow that and I did some exploring. Robin was given his boat(s) by his Dad so that is always a plus. Even so, I thought a lot about doing the same thing in following years. I made a sailing rig (three times) for a canoe that I put to wonderful use in sailing large wilderness lakes and wild inlets on the BC coast. I was self-reliant for a week or so several times. That is pretty much the extent of my sailing except for a few times on a larger sailboat in the Georgia Straight area of BC's coast. The first sailing channel that I began watching was Sam Holmes. HOW WONDERFUL, I thought. But years after my first introduction to solo sailing via Robin Graham, I realized that I would NOT want to do it solo. Even Graham quit sailing and went to live in the bush in Montana! After Holmes, I found other channels and realized that there was quite the world of YT sailors out there. The solo ones are fun but they are not my favourites. I really like the interactions between the couples and the larger groups. Having more than one person's perspective on a scene tells much more about it. I admire the Solo Sailors! GO FOR IT! It is not my idea of sailing though.

Webb Chiles is The Godfather of them all. Six circumnavigation, in his 80’s and still out there! He is extremely “old school “ and abhors self promotion. But he does post from time to time, but prefers journaling on his website. Has written 5 books ( I believe, maybe six) and they are available free to download. ( Erik Anderaa) is Webb Chiles reincarnated antemortem A deeply philosophical digital periodical on sailing.... “A sailor is an artist, whose medium is the wind” - Webb Chiles
