the charge of the light brigade did stun the Russian cav severally enough that they did not partake in any further engagement seeing the enemy cav would comit to and pull off though unsuccessful a head on charge like that in to a fortified position that can protentually lead to the rest of the army pulling off something similar as well so there is that factor as well.

Doesn't mean that you cannot learn from it. And until there is proof that it is fake, there is no way to say it is not legitimate. Lack of proof of something, does not proof that it is false.

Well not quite, although it is highly exaggerated, it did happen, except for the fact that instead of just 300 Spartans there were many other Greek soldiers from other city states that were in the battle.
