Yeah similar to the Thieves' Guild it's pretty clear the Brotherhood has been on the decline for some time. That tiny little sanctuary in Falkreath is all that's left, and unlike the other factions, you have the ability to destroy them completely. I'm pretty sure the letter and circle are just there to show Maven's character, and that the rumors of her dark dealings are not just rumors.

I don’t think it’s weird at all that people get attached to Serena. She’s the only follower character who has a fully realized personality and storyline that you can experience gradually over the course of a huge stretch of the game. Every other follower in the game is a one-note caricature who just works for you and barks catchphrases. If all the followers in Skyrim followed you through a huge adventure, made decisions with you in conversations, gave their complicated thoughts on every step of the journey, and had deeper interactions to offer than holding your stuff and hitting bad guys, Serana wouldn’t be such a big deal. She feels more like a person than any other NPC.

It's the same exact reason why super-follower mods like Inigo are so popular. Serana is a fully fleshed out character with a backstory, family drama, a ton of location and quest-based commentary, and perhaps most important she's uniquely voiced. It's not like the stock NPCs where you hear the same 5 voices over and over.

1 - There's no evidence Aela and Skjor had a thing. The secretive conversation they have is about being in the inner circle. There's absolutely zero dialogue of her grieving for Skjor other than the few lines about getting revenge against the Silver Hand plus she's a marriage candidate. If you were for example to kill Nazeem, his wife would greet you with "I hope the wilds take you". Killing a kid's parents will also have a chance for them to say something about it. This was not an oversight by the developers. Your theory about joining Skjor in the afterlife is also insubstantial since you cure Kodlak after he died. 2 - It's possible to retrieve a quill for Maven that lets her forge any signature. If you join the thieves guild you not only become leader which could benefit her but you help her establish a monopoly on mead production. If you side with the Empire during the Civil War quest line she becomes jarl of Riften. If you tell her about the plan to steal Frost she says to go ahead with it and that she'll deal with Louis Letrush later. There's no evidence to prove she wants you dead specifically.

The reverse Uno card I've always wanted ot play was to play a Nord, become thane of every city, get Ulfric to win the war - and then challenge _him_ to a duel where I'd take him apart in seconds, being the player character, Dragonborn, master assassin, Companion, arch mage, ... Afterall, each and every Stormcloak (and Stormcloak supporter) would _have to_ accept the inevitable outcome of that duel, since it's how Ulfric started the whole thing 😛

The quest with the couples is "the book of love" and you get it at the temple of mara in Riften. The quest you are referring to is "The heart of dibella" and is obtained if you break into the temple of dibella in Markarth. Both are fun quests with a perk as a reward so it's easy to get those mixed up.

Great video, but the Black sacrament in Mavens basement probably isn't there for the dragonborn. It's for a girl named Svidi. Svidi is the former lover of Sibbi Black-Briar. Sibbi killed her brother and So Svidi then got Sibbi arrested 😂 Maven wants to kill her for her betrayal and Sibbi is searching for her. And Maven is infuriated by the Dark brotherhood because they can't find her! Svidi have since then cut her hair and is now living in Ivarstead under the Alias "Lynly Star-Sung". It's explained in game, that Aela and Skjor weren't having a romance but sneaking away to become Werewolves and hunt the Silver Dawn--they later bring you into what they've been doing. Also Aela explains that all the females in her family became Companions, including her mother. All of whom would have likley been werewolves. So most of her family is in Hircine's hunting grounds.

id like to point out the dialogue btween skor and aela are completely innocent. at that point in the game you are still and outsider and have not taken the blood oath to become a werewolf, in other words, its still a very closely guarded secret in the companions. what she means by "what you and skor are up to during your little hunts" is the fact that they transform and go on a rampage. theyre not hunting game like normal hunters, theyre hunting as wolves. its called foreshadowing

Sapphire is an interesting character, she can be married, technically, she is in the group of characters that you can marry, however, you can never reach the required relationship lever to marry her. On pc use console commands to raise her to relationship level 4, and then approach her wearing the amulet, and she will accept marriage.

Never got the impression Serana was forced into anything, pretty sure she even tells you she went in willingly or maybe the line is something like "To become a Daughter of Coldharbour you need to be willing to submit yourself" can't remember the exact phrasing tbh but it was why I'm always surprised when ppl say she was aped or forced, there probably more a argument that her own parents groomed/indoctrinated her but even then i'd just be putting my own narrative on the topic. All we really know is her, her mum an her dad all trained for it and went into it willingly, what happened during is simply anyone's guess but we can all probably safely say it was far from nice, and after all 3 undoubtedly massacred and drank the blood of alot of innocent ppl.

She was raped nearly to death, that's how she became a Daughter of Coldharbour. And although it was expected of her, I guarantee you she was forced into it. Crap like that happens all the time in the real world, young girls being forced into arranged marriages against their will, etc. They're basically being forced to have sex with some guy they don't want to. And a lot of them can be pretty abusive, since this kind of thing happens in countries where women typically don't have as many rights, or are viewed as second-class compared to men. In Elder Scrolls lore what happens is Molag Bal violently forces himself on the victim, and afterwards if they are still alive immediately after he sheds a drop of his own blood on their forehead. After they finally succumb to their injuries (they will not survive on their own) and they rise as a pureblooded vampire, their injuries rapidly healing. It's covered in various in-game books in Skyrim and other elder scrolls games, particularly the story of the first vampire Lamae Beolfag, who rose as Lamae Bal after her....experience.

Yeah, whatever unknown thing the Dragonborn did to get the contract was prior to the game and the Dark Brotherhood does have the "trade one life for another" ritual. Although one wrinkle is that Astrid implies that you picked correctly if you kill her as well so I wonder if she also had a contract on her head.

And it also locks you out of the DB, which wouldn't be the case if you were truly 'fulfilling a contract'. I think her "well done" is more to praise you for being able to best her, the leader of the dark brotherhood. Since that would require incredible skill, story-wise. It would certainly earn her respect. (( Also, Astrid probably wouldn't be able to put a hit on herself if there already WAS one on her, later on. The Nightmother also never mentions there being one on her prior to that, despite you being the listener, aka the person she supposedly tells all contracts to ))

in my playthroughs, i usually deal with grelod by capturing her soul, then using it to enchant a wooden sword with the most worthless enchantment i can find, then give it to one of my kids, so grelod ends up in the soul cairne for eternity, while also being used as a child's plaything. death seems far too easy a punishment for her, she especially can suck it.

Actually if you search around the back tables of the Bannered Mare in Whiterun there is a note from Maven to a third party that suggests the real target of Maven's sacrament, who incidentally likely can be found nearby where she asks him to meet a representative of hers who will "work out" the details of his "debt" to her. Some "human" remains and an occasional random jewelry item is just off to the side, at higher levels, based on where Maven told the man to go. So chances are she told the Dark Brotherhood where the target was going to be.

It's interesting how the civil war choices in Skyrim aged rather well when comparing to our modern day, real world political climate. I would say more than half, cause when you listen to a lot of the imperial dialogue, especially between Legette and The general, they really just using the treaty to buy time. It’s basically a political long game but the ulfric boys are looking at the now (which understandable to a degree) but the thalmor just get to sit back and watch the infighting weaken the empire

There is a "Wheel of Time" Mod that gives you a free follower who will go where your other in game followers cannot go. She is a little spear Maiden. She keeps flirting with Serena and apparently she an Ysolda know each other far to well. Serena told her they could sleep together but she(the spear Maiden) might not survive. With the Spear Maiden, Serana, Sofia mod, and the Dark Brotherhood female (Dark Brotherhood Mod) and I have 4 female followers in my Harem. The hard part is keeping Sofia sober and in clothes. There is a lot of drama with the girls. Serana keeps threatening to drain Sofia because Sofia gets on her nerves.

Forgot to mention, if you treat the little spear Maiden right you can have the "black screen" sex with her same as Serana. What gets me is you cannot have sex with your "wife" and unless you marry a "follower" you cannot have "sex" or get them to wear what you want. The marriage part of the game SUCKS.

I have a question for anyone who could answer it. I gave Serana Dawnbreaker. Now there is no dialogue option for her to join me as a companion. I've completed the Dawnguard dlc and I've tried killing and pickpocketing her to get it back. It's there a way or am I just screwed and am gonna have to start over? Playing on PS5.

She still went on adventures with me after all the DLC, maybe you bothered her about becoming human too soon. Maybe a calm spell will help her join you again. My pick pocket was 100 & I noticed I messed up her inventory when I tried to get her to wear tavern clothes. However, you should still be able to pick back your sword this way. Hope that helps a bit.

I was never interested in Aela in fact I was only interested in Lydia unfortunately she wasn't and option on release so I settled for Camilla I am so glad Lydia was officially added as a romance option. However my favourite girl is Serana who wasn't added till later and is not officially romanceable but I am a sucker for Laura Bailey's voice can't help it I have senory modulation disorder so my hearing is far more sensitive than normal most sounds are unpleasant at best and more painful than a kick in the nuts at worst but some sounds are soothing like some women's voices and Laura Bailey's one of them not so much her Serana voice but she has been in other things and does a posh voice in so anime that's my favourite one she does.

@@trex9263 I know you can get mods I have downloaded a few but honestly they seem to cause more trouble than they are worth half the time either they are incompatible with each other and you don't know at first or which mod is causing the problem or there is an update to the game that breaks them or the mod is updated and becomes incompatible with another mod or a mod needs another mod to work and they use short hand to refer to the base mod making it hard to find. I could go on and on but you get the point I am tired of all the nonsense with mods people act like they are the greatest thing ever but I just keep thinking "I could be actually playing the game than dealing with this hassle" so I just keep the mods to a minimum now mainly the unofficial patch mod and simple ones all in all I am not into modding.

@@matthew-005 Well, I understand. It took me a long time to learn. It required a lot of reading and watching tutorials, but in the end, it was worth it for me. Bethesda didn't help any by constantly updating Skyrim to a new version every so often. But again, I completely understand. Some just want to play and not spend time on the grind of modding. she doesn't even know you exist and she's mad that they haven't responded fast enough (look up the dark brotherhood storyline) those random dark brotherhood attacks happen when you steal from or piss off some npc i remember getting a shield from a bandit camp at didn't know it was listed as stolen and it was the only thing that I "stole" (don't know if it belonged to some bandit or what) and had the assassin encounter it is annoying how npc's know that you stole from them especially when you were seen by no one and or everyone is dead
