I usually don’t comment on videos but I hope my insight helps. I would agree that I got into rodeo and cowboy culture because of Dale Brisby. So I think Ty is correct when he says a lot of ppl know Dale Brisby and not the athletes. And I also agree for a new comer rodeo is hard to follow. I can’t tell the difference between a 70 point bull ride or a 90 point bull ride. But I still enjoy it nonetheless. Maybe for ppl like me if there was a broadcast or something that went more in depth on the scoring that could help. But I agree it is tuff position to be in. I understand wanting to grow the sport but I also wouldn’t want to see rodeo become gimmicky.

Dale, I've read alot over the comments over the years about the PBR and rodeo is the fact it's expensive at the gate and the cost of food. Financially for a family, it's not affordable and that is ten fold over here in australia.

Another outstanding interview. This interview and the Jim Sharp interview are absolutely your best. Ty looked visibly annoyed when he found out that his wife told you about the time he was in junior rodeo and the organizers kept changing the rules to be the all around cowboy. If possible, you should interview Cody Lambert. Keep up the good work.

Wont ever be another Ty Murry. When I started out bullriding he was the one I looked up to. Me and my traveling buddies had this exact attitude toward everything we did. Lots of great memories. Thanks Ty its because of the ones like you and Tuff and cody that paved the way that I even have those memories. Never did get the gold buckle we are strive for but I wouldnt change it for anything in the world. Maybe a few less injuries that would be nice lol!

Great interview. I have heard Ty interviewed by others but during this one he talked about things that wasn't mentioned in others. Flint has made the comment that if rodeo ever became mainstream that it would be run off by the animal activist such as the circus was. Which I imagine many activist are trying to do already

But before I got to meet ty I ran in to a guy named lessy Doyle, who knew the movie I was named after. A lil personal thing like that to a 7 year old boy ment the world. I never meet ty that day. But after talking to mr. Doyle I dint care. Thank all u old timers for the inspiration in my life. "Adversity is life's greatest teacher. The question is do you give in to the pain or learn from it. I’m not one for Pod Casts, but having followed professional rodeo for most of my life, & being a huge Ty Murray fan (still am), I definitely tuned in. Dale, it was a great one. So good to see Ty aging gracefully, and seeing him at a different phase in his life. Now before I start sounding all fanboy, I have to agree with Ty: I don’t know that professional rodeo will ever go mainstream. Part of me hopes it doesn’t. I have gone to multiple NFR’s including the last 3 in row. I will say the inception of the cowboy channel definitely helped with coverage of the sport. I remember way back in the 80’s, if you were lucky, they’d air round 10 of the NFR when it was in OKC, then Vegas with all those Hesston commercials 😂. Later on ESPN got in on coverage where you could see rounds 8,9 & 10 on tape delay. I was also able to take in a lot of PBR events in my home state, along with a few out of state, and one World Finals. I guess where I’m going with this is the PBR seems to be going somewhat mainstream, & it’s almost becoming unwatchable. My last event attended was 2022 in Glendale. The shortened season, the teams season….I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. I love the added money, that the NFR will stay in Las Vegas thru 2035 & the quality of athletes & stock. I hope that never changes. Oh & Ty’s 1st bull riding title was in 1993. He beat Canadian bull rider Daryl Mills by a mere $95.23. Daryl stayed on his last bull (he drew bull of the year Grasshopper) in Round 10 if I’m not mistaken, but the bull had an off day & didn’t score well. That reride was huge.

Dale Brisby GREAT INTERVIEW. Did you catch when TY said there are guys going to rodeos that can't do a 1 arm chin up. That was me in the late 60's. We just got on 'em and got better or got hurt and quit. Can your interns do 5 one arm chin ups, 100 situps or post up bareback at the trot for 15 minutes? I never could which is why I fell off.

My grand dad owned the sale barn in my home town. I got to hang around the Rodeo hands at the back of the pens while they drank cold beer and told stories . Best i ever heard was " Rodeo is like a plate of ham and eggs, the chicken has been there. But the pig is committed". I got on roughstock. Took a spinal injury. Worked at Mesquite for 5 years and Ft. Worth . I saw the game as a rider and then saw the business end of it. I think we are blessed not to be mainstream. I also think their is nothing more American than standing on a load deck or backing a horse into corner . A girl and her horse both dialed in at full speed coming and going. To me its not a struggle. Its the purest form of competition there is . A bull and bucking horse have the throttle. What are you going to do about it? There is a huge population who gets that and loves it. Been a fan my whole life. Good interview. Time well spent. I got to spend time with most of the past greats. Worth more than any amount of money. " Let's Go Rodeo "

@TheonetheycallQuaid
@TheonetheycallQuaid 13 күн бұрын
I would absolutely agree. Since its inception in the early 90’s to now, I probably attended well over 30 PBR events, most in my home state, several events in Anaheim & One World Finals in Vegas. Sadly my last PBR I attended was in 2022, when the shortened season started ( World Finals in May in Fort Worth) & now this whole teams format with coaches etc. I just couldn’t get into it. I can’t even watch on CBS when it does air. For better or worse, it has become something I’m not familiar with. Granted, it’s still bull riding, these riders are extremely talented & the stock is still rank. But something definitely has changed. At least for me anyway.

We are watching a marketing department direct a single athlete sport to try to make it more appealing or more comparative to today's team sports that mainstream people see on TV all the time. Not so sure how I feel about that. Yes, it's still bull riding on rank stock, but it's never been a team event.

When a bull is laying down it’s almost an advantage to the rider or at least I thought so. They didn’t seem to have as much forward motion from the laying down position it seemed easier to get out on em. Or at least it was for me. But I was never a world champion or never even that good. But the few times it happened to me I would take em and it seemed easier to me.
