I’m trying to play a song on my regular sized kalimba but having trouble knowing which notes the person I watch playing by ear .

i have one of these coming my way ..the sound is just magical ..fit in a pocket,,no need for expensive brass band to tag along .or monkey or grinder for that matter ..perfect !

Can we tune it or not? Also I don’t understand how to play notes like G for example...

The sounds you can get out of kalimba are limited by the length of each metal tine. You could move them a bit and check how much you could change the sound. When I had it in my backpack, sometimes tines moved a bit and it gets out of tune, so I move them back and forth to get back to perfect tune. If you want to get more sounds, you have need bigger kalimba.

+Yuri Danylko those signs tell you from which octave the sound is. That's one of available notations - c' is the same as C4 in another notation. You can read more here - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz_pitch_notation

Is it me or the sound of the a’ and the a” is almost the same? I hear an overtone but not a different tone between both
