Well done Omar, another good one! Interesting to see your work with a young keeper, away from some of the seniors. Well done young man, some lovely natural actions in this - particularly some of the low reactive bottom corner saves.

Are you using Size 5 or 4 ball? My 7 year old has been wanting to start some training and I'm wondering if I should start him on size 3 or 4 since we don't play with goalies until they're using the size 4. Probably a super minor concern. Love the video and gave me some good ideas for him.

My 8 yo daughter had only been to 4 practices and 3 matches so far. She volunteered to play gk today.... And she loved I and was was very impressive for never doing it. We practice 30 minutes a day in the backyard plus twice a week practices which is mostly basic dribbling, ball control and passing. Do you have any resources for VERY beginner goalkeepers?

Will you continue to use the non-volley technique even for you older trainees? I personally don't like to use the volley to the GK's I train because it is not as game realistic as a shot from the ground.

at this time, you should work on basic techniques like catching, handling, diving etc. with good amount of repetitions. Dont work on extension saves or advanced techniques. work on simple and basic stuff.

What incompetence, many mistakes, lack of attention to detail and little preparation for the basic technique. I'm sorry but training children is more demanding and you need to have a high preparation.
@progkacademy4 жыл бұрын
Orlha orlha I’m always willing to take notes from others. Since there seems to be “many mistakes & lack of attn to detail” plz tell me what you think I could have done better. Would love to hear your thoughts 👍🏽
@orlhaorlha61964 жыл бұрын
@@progkacademy If I may have used terms that have offended you, I apologize. Unfortunately my English is lacking. if you want advice, the training you have shown is confusing enough for a child of that age. we see that he is far behind (the child) has too many basic deficiencies. for example you should work on the socket, do a session focused only on that. Analytic then finally the last 20min go global. Exercises to do are many. It does not mean that you are not an excellent trainer, I like you with adults, but with children the work is more complicated.
@progkacademy4 жыл бұрын
Orlha orlha No offense taken. Just trying to get better as a coach, so I’m always willing to hear/take constructive criticism. Could be the translation, but your first comment didn’t seem like that was your goal. That being said, what you said about working within the gk’s “bubble” makes sense. We’ve been doing that in previous session. What I was trying to accomplish here was seeing what instinctual technique this gk used with unannounced services. We’ve always spoon fed younger gk’s and made things predictable to build the technique. But after listening to a conference about unannounced services, I wanted to see if maybe shots from the ground would help him find a better catching technique than I could teach. But to your point, I agree! Coaching younger gk’s takes a lot more time and patience, something that you probably couldn’t see from this session.
