Nobody is allowed to blame a child for accepting candy when it's offered to them! It's a CHILD. They are learning and growing , their brain functions are not even finished developing, they are too young to know what drugs are, and God forbid we have to teach CHILDREN how to Not be Drugged!? What a genuinely horrifying reality we live in that this would be an issue.

Okay, let you get this straight: The child went against school and classroom policy--- she accepted food from another student, she took candy while in classtime and snuck in the bathroom to hide and eat it. That is what she is suspended for. The result of the THC poisoning is another issue. This is one of the reasons this policy is in place amongst other reasons like not passing food alergens. An investigation is ongoing to determine if the child did or did not use free will to take THC laced candy and ingest it knowingly of such. These are lessons that are instilled throughout adulthood--- this is involuntary negligence at the least. This is exactly how the school should have handled it- by using what measures and enforcement they had available. given that I am sure they weren't ever forseeing dealing with something like this, and isolating the incident (meaning suspending the kid during investigation), and working with school offcials and parents --- which were notified as soon as the school learned what happened--- to make the best informed decision to resolve the problem. The kid is old enough to have freewill and understand what is right and wrong and make her choices. This can also be a learning experience. That what we do has consequences that we can't always forsee and when we know something is wrong we just shouldn't do it. Period. I know Mama bear here is setting her kid straight about that.

The mother needs to change her daughter's school, so the expulsion or suspension isn't on her record. She also needs to hire an attorney to sue the family of the child who gave her daughter the candy, and the mother needs to have the lawyer speak to the school about their unethical and unlawful expulsion of her daughter. The school could also be sued for negligence for having a child at the school with marijuana laced candy. The mother needs to get legal representation to fix this issue.

The point is that the school knew that her kid (one of their 12 yr old student's nonetheless) ate a gummy that was or could of been laced with thc or weed! After knowing this & sending the child home to her parent's the school didn't allow the parent of the minor to know what had happened during school or even why she is being sent home! A lot of your replies are completely missing the point here! Yes, the gummy wasn't given by the school, staff, or anyone working at this physical brick & mortar school campus. However, it is 100% negligence on behalf of this school for not addressing or even acknowledging this situation to the parent of this girl -period. 🙄 Shoot... this poor young girl was throwing up & that was not the only side affect as her mother mentioned. 😢 ALL SCHOOL STAFF ARE MANDATED REPORTER'S. THEY HAVE A DUTY & ARE TRAINED to know what to do & how too handle situations if they so arise. They, the school; should of took the necessary steps & reported this straight to law enforcement, poison control, ALL parent's & parties involved- as well as, call an ambulance to take her directly to a hospital for care. Even if it wasn't a emergency right then & there, there are policies & protocols to go by for this very situation 🤔 😕 This whole situation is very absurd to say the least! And the lack of ANY accountability or responsibility is sickening & upsetting 😡 Then to turn around & suspend this child after the fact - ReAlLy!?!?! This poor mom... just think how confused 😕 you would be trying to take care of your child who is obviously sick - but now not only is this mom dealing with a sick child but they're threatened by being suspended- and not knowing wth is going on!?!?! Geez... i would if completely lost it- way to keep your cool mom! Goshhh... SERIOUSLY what is going on with all these crazy school's lately 😕 so stinking sad!

@@maddmunkee2 Are you talking about your kids? If not, don't assume that because the child is black that she is more advanced than she is. If we accept your jaded, racist way of thinking should we also blame all of the kids who were given marijuana gummies, or the ones who ate the marijuana-laced brownies given to them by their white teachers, because, according to you the students should have known the teachers were giving them drugs because of KZbin videos. I guess also, according to your logic, the kids whose teacher brought sperm-laced cupcakes to hand out to the students should have known that their teacher laced the cupcakes with something because of KZbin. Do you also think that the students should shoulder the responsibility of "unknowingly" eating sperm-filled cupcakes and that the teacher should not get jail time and should be allowed to keep her job so she can give more children her husband's sperm? Lastly, are you a teacher? If so, let us know in the comment section so we can warn people to watch their children around you. Since you seem to want to blame children for the actions of others. As an African American, I would be so afraid to have a child in any racist school system here in current-day America. All of the evil white, racist teachers have been unleashed during the Trump administration and they refuse to go back underground with their racist attitudes. Instead of harping about a 9-year-old child who unknowingly ate a marijuana gummy, why don't white people ever speak out or show anger over their fellow white folks' behavior against Black children, especially in schools? White people are so afraid that your blue-eyed, blond-haired child will learn that their ancestors were crazy, barbaric slave owners but could care less that a white teacher forced Black children to wear chains, pick the seed out of cotton and call him "master" during class, in April 2022. You white folk are screaming to anyone who will listen that Critical Race Theory will traumatize your lily-white children if they were taught about white America's animalistic past. Yet the major of white people are okay with white teachers forcing Black kids to write a homework assignment on what type of slave they would have been, whether they would have worked in the field or in the big house. White people show Black people every day just how crazy and deranged they are. It is up to us, Black people, to accept these truths and to protect ourselves accordingly. I am not telling Black people to hate anyone but rather telling Black people to yourselves against the hate that white people project towards us every day of our lives. We will all reap the harvest we sow. So, don't give the same hate we get back to those who hate us without cause. We will keep love in our hearts for all of GOD's creations. Because we know that GOD will avenge us and HE will "return to sender" every single evil action that evil racists have done to us, our ancestors, and our children. GOD will pour out his wrath on those who continuously subject us and our innocent children to their brand of evil, especially attacking children.

I don’t know what rock you were living under, but you May want to crawl from under it - because 6-7 year olds are selling drugs and using drugs. Could teach you things that would blow your mind. It is a different world out there. We went trick or treating with friends for blocks. Came home, sorted candy, parents ate what they wanted, we joked about it. What parent would give their kids freedom to do that now? We don't trust strangers. Schools need their policies changed to reflect the times. There are good reasons for rules of not accepting candy or food from others. A policy of no treats for parties would be good also. Let kids have music or do art projects for rewards

There is a case in the media right now of a caterer and bride being charged with poisoning for giving THC to wedding guests. So they try to pass the buck to A 9 YEAR OLD. They have the responsibility for the safety of the kids while they are at school. Like the mom pointed out, kids were getting bags full of candy previously at school. Visually there is almost no difference between THC candy and regular. I remember, in high school, some kid brought in pot brownies and gave one to his friend. He never told his friend there was weed in it. When the kid got high, he got sick, and went to the nurse. The nurse immediately realized he was stoned out of his mind. He had a meeting with the principal, the nurse, his parents, and I heard (not confirmed) a cop. He got suspended, kicked off his sports team, and lost his full ride college sports scholarship. All because one person thought it was funny.

The school was supposed to be responsible for the kids while at school so how is it ok a 9 years old bring drug lace candy to school but the child who ate it unknowingly gets punished. This school has problems and the parents should sued them promptly. This is beyond outrageous! That reason alone is why I homeschool my kids, I didn’t want to send my kids to a public school where teachers don’t care about the well-being of their students or for my kids to be around bullies.

The teachers? What? They are severely limited on what they can do and how they can discipline anyone. If you call a parent to complain their kid is acting up, they threaten to sue you and “get your job”. Then they lodge a complaint against you and you’re under investigation. The parents(not this one) take zero responsibility for their kids actions. I spent 22 years in a Bronx Junior High School until 2012 and have lived through this and have seen this hundreds of times.

Do you think this child has enough knowledge to even know The impact that marijuana could have on her at nine years old? Fact remains she was given some candy, and she ate it. It is likely she was not eating the candy because it was marijuana, but because it was Candy.

@cxxx valee Candy of all kinds was forbidden in the classroom as stated in the video. She knew this, but wanted to eat the candy regardless, and so ate it in the bathroom before she went to class. It is not that hard to understand this. Meanwhile - consider that she DID know that it was laced with THC. As a 9 year old child you have no way of conceptualizing the consequences of your actions in a concrete way. In the same way a 9 year old cannot truthfully consent to sex, for example, a 9 year old cannot truthfully consent to taking drugs, because they are children who haven't developed an understanding of cause-and-affect or risk assessment. They are simply not informed enough to say "YES" to something serious and adult like THC. So even if she "knew" it was laced with THC (which she didn't), as a child she is still developmentally unable to know what that means, what eating it would do to her or that eating it would be a more severe infraction than eating a regular piece of forbidden candy. So, no matter which way you cut it, it is not her fault. It really isn't even the fault of the other child who gave her the drugged candy, as this child should've never had access to THC in the first place. Ultimately the blame lies on whoever allowed their children to have access to THC, whether purposefully or by way of neglect. Those to be criminalized are those who originally put children into contact with THC. NOT THE CHILDREN who subsequently gained access to them. Basically, whichever way you cut it, your point is unnecessarily cruel and it's putting so much blame on literal babies for no reason.

I have a 600mg THC nerds rope sitting right next to me and I can without a doubt say that no child would be able to tell this candy from any non-thc candy out there, wrapper or taste. A child wont pay attention to the wrapper on candy their friend gave them and even if they did I doubt many children would know what THC is or what it does. This school is crazy and is completely feeding into victim blaming on a 9 YEAR OLD! Why is no one from that school focusing on the fact this little girl was drugged and got sick from it. She didn't decide to take THC cause she wanted to have a good time, she was given it unknowingly, she was DRUGGED by another student.

What the mother should have said when the principal called her on the phone with an officer is “ so what you’re telling me is that my nine year old was given drugs while at school in your custody and she Became ill as a result? Officer you are a witness to her admission. Thanks for admitting liability you’ll be hearing from my lawyer”. The gall of these people to try to defer blame and responsibility onto the mother is outrageous! These people are the ones that should be held responsible. That’s why my children will never go to public or private school. I will never place them in the hands of a corrupt educational system Where there is no accountability to the people who pay them to educate their kids and where the parents have no say in what children or taught.

This happened to my 13 year old cousin a few months ago and the school handled it exactly how they should have. She was poisoned on Valentine’s Day. Her parents were outraged and the school disciplined the student who poisoned her. This is absolutely ridiculous and frankly I wonder if the administration would have handled this case in the same way if this wasn’t a family of color. I understand different school boards have different rules but this is just insane. She’s 9 years old and they are treating her as if she’s an adult who should be completely aware of the possible consequences of eating a piece of candy from her friend. And the Valentine’s Day thing? Are you kidding me? They should be sued. When this happened to my cousin she said she didn’t know what it was and they believed her without any “pending investigation”

@@jagbrit3723 actually I was mistaken. There already has been fentanyl contamination that's killed kids at school. I'm weird for worrying about reality?? That's interesting but if you say so, I'll take your word... My only point is that the drugs are out of control and there's an abundance of teachers and parents that don't care (or even pay attention to) what the kids are doing (each assuming the other is doing that job, when neither is). It's a testimony to how apathetic teachers and parents are in this country and it's heartbreaking - whether you experience the same society in Britain or not, it doesn't seem too difficult to feel empathy for the lost lives of the children who never had an adult figure looking out for/protecting their well-being

One of my children was bullied and ended up in the hospital on a morphine drip from their injuries. The school said no punishment needed for the attacker. I called the police to report an assault.
