Since a lot of folks asked - I work anywhere between 10 to 12 hours daily on Deshbhakt - because this is my life / passion / purpose. However for the team its rarely more than 8 to 9 hours a day - and SUNDAYS ARE ALWAYS OFF - so that team can stare at wife / girlfriend. :)) I WISH these hours were lesser - (for myself and team) - this is nothing to brag about .... I have seen the health impact of long working hours ..... this is something we will focus on reducing further so that i don't have to stare at my editor all the time! ;)))))

@@sekhasifiqbal4497 It is sad that people still do not see how media, as well as government in power, is nothing but representation of the voters. In a democracy, people get what the majority of people vote for in the elections. Sure, TMC may be as bad as BJP but it is the people who voted for TMC there. All I am saying is that a democracy can only lead to social and financial upliftment of people if right leaders are voted into power rather that populist demagogues that are currently holding the reins of power in India. And now the rot is so deep, that India is almost a non-democratic country as BJP and RSS have infiltrated all departments/organisations/agencies with their own people. India is past the point of no return now and is headed for bleaker times ahead.

I worked for 10 years and now I run my own company. Working 20 hr a day and working on Sunday for a CEO or for a person holding equity makes sense but for an average employee just doesn't make sense. It should be the responsibility of the management to allocate proper tasks based on what the employee can achieve. There is also a gap in the HR department of most companies as the job of the HR should be to be the spokesperson for the employee rather than the company. The non-collaborative and competitive culture makes employees hostile towards one another and creates a culture of favouritism making it hard for new employees to grow.

No overtime. Also poor working conditions - I used to work in Delhi. ACs broke down in peak summer, no heating in winter. 1 toilet for 70+ female workers, but separate toilet for CEO and family. Often entrepreneurs have a problem if the worker has career aspirations - they consider themselves God as they are creating and giving jobs. Feudal landlord mindset - they give jobs and salary so they own you. Another organisation I worked for didn’t give WFH during Covid and cut Saturday and Sunday as leave if you took Friday and Monday off.

@@N_D_2088 with the recent recessions and dearth in projects there is this bad practice going on in most service based companies where employees are warned that if they end up on bench for too long they might be laid off. Non indians are usually strict about their working hours but Indians want to deliberately spend 10-12 hours god knows why.

One valuable lesson I learned early in my career is the importance of working and learning for yourself. I recall an incident when I requested technical training to enhance my skill set, only to have the request denied due to the associated costs. I also observed coworkers struggling with inadequate tools and software, which could have made their tasks faster and easier. Unfortunately, these resources were withheld by the organization to cut costs, often leaving employees feeling frustrated and unsupported.

As an economics student I think Marx's theory of surplus value is still relevant seeing such statements. ie. The capitalists make the workers work for lets say 4 more hours but still pay them the same wages. So for eg for the workers work for 12 hours a day rather than the 8 hours and the capitalists still pay them the wage for 8 hours. So the workers have created a value of 12 hours labour but get paid only for 8 hours labour. The suplus 4 units of labour are pocketed by capitalists as profit or reinvested in their business. So Marx has rightly described the problem with theories like suplus value and theory of capitalist development even though he hasn't provided a practical working solution for the same.
