This is the 4th time I have walked the Ridgeway and successfully completed it. I will do it just once more with my friend Tim when he is ready! Then, thats it :) Other long distance hikes beckon me now! Watch this space!

I did not know about this channel Sandy, I only knew about the knife channel. I am in awe over your feat, accomplishing this long hike with your good friend Tony. You are in incredible shape. You are an inspiration to me. Seeing you do this has inspired me to go 1000 yards from 500. I know I can do it and I will. This happens to be a second chance at life. I will take full advantage and succeed. I’ve had a long recovery and feel ready after watching this video to take the next step. Thank you very much. Tony

Goodness; what a video. I love the camaraderie, and your knowledge of the areas in which you hike. The drone photography and music choices contributed to making this video enthralling; so well done...it will be quite a while before I am finished sharing this to everyone. In my humble opinion, this is a new standard of KZbin hiking videos. All I can say is "Thanks!". :) Greetings from Georgia, USA.

Philip here, fellow hiker and wild camper. Just watched your vid, love the way you all get on together. Can I recommend Sole-Mates liquid gel insoles to you. I've worn them in my boots on all my hikes and never had foot troubles or aching feet at the end of the day. They gently massage my feet with every step so aiding blood circulation. Regards Philip.

Thanks Sandy for yet another super brilliant vid of the Ridgeway, you are such an inspiration even for us older codgers! And the twist on how we think about our endeavours at the end of the walk was just about perfect, the norm now is being at the start of a new adventure and not the end of the last one......outstanding!! Regards Clive

Gives a lovely flavour of the walk. A shame about the lack of water. It’s on my bucket list.
Some lovely Scenery, our country is amazing. I had a laugh when he pointed out Didcot Power Station. I work on the Railway and we used to load Coal in Bulk, at Liverpool Docks for Didcot, back in the day.

Same for me, I work at Royal Portbury and the bulkers carrying the coal for Didcot payed us well...all gone now unfortunately!

@@PillSharks Your right there mate. Fiddlers Ferry is getting knocked down, this year or early next. When I think how busy it used to be.
@PillSharks4 жыл бұрын
Stephen Smith yes, we went from having regular bulk carriers for Didcot and sometimes Dracks power station to nothing, like I said, it’s hit us the pocket slightly but luckily the port always finds something to replace lost trade! My father was asking me the other month about Kingsnorth powers station in Medway, kent, he worked on the chimney and had to climb it free hand, a bloke he was with was killed at the top after something fell on him and they had to leave his body up there until the next day, that’s also been pulled down and he couldn’t believe it after all the effort of building the place!

This has been a very enjoyable film! I got so many things to comment upon that I just don't.. ..except that I have a cat, that's normally very lovable, except when you pick her up.. ..she turns into something that looks just like that chinook. Cheers, I'm looking forward to more of your adventures..

Wow, great trek there Sandy. To have done that 4 times is an absolutely amazing accomplishment that you should be very proud of. It takes a lot of determination and dedication to fight through the steep inclines and declines and rough terrain for 87 miles. That video clip at 17:30 - classic, lol When you mentioned the pill boxes it reminds me of when I pointed one out to my wife many years ago and she honestly thought they were like some sort of old rural pharmacy which didn't have very big windows. She doesn't watch war films...... Its great you have water taps along the route for walkers. Groovy.
