These commercials give me the best feels and worst feels all at the same time. I want to go back to being a kid then

The Fisher-Price Tournament Table commercial is engraved into my brain from seeing it so much in the early to mid 90's. I always wanted one when I was a kid.... too bad :(
@alskndlaskndal8 жыл бұрын
You can definitely see some of the major 90s ad trends here: cheesy hip-hop and toys that are supposed to annoy uptight authority figures. The 90s were all about being "cool" and "edgy". :-) I don't watch many TV ads these days, but it seems like Chester Cheetah has stayed basically the same for over 20 years!

I can't see children's TV today including a kid saying the line "Prepare to die, blowhole!" Times sure have changed.

Kids were exposed to Universal Monsters and even the Underdog show, which Nickelodeon advertised pretty heavy in 1992. This must have come from a Saturday or Sunday, Yogi Bear's Most Wanted was on at 4:30 and Nick Arcade at 5.

Same here. Now I know what it means when my people use to say, "don't be in such a hurry to grow up." lol

Odd- "my people" used to say that too.. Must be an old, popular saying of some sort...

I'm guessing the age group here was born 1975-1985 mostly.

1:25 I got this thing one christmas. I can't remember whether I asked for it or not. It did not work as advertised. The surface was hard to draw on to begin with and then the pictures were faded. 4:10 one time I was at the birthday party of a friend and he got this bat. We were all taking turns trying out the noise making part of it. when it was my turn I wasn't paying attention and actually whacked some kid with the bat. After that I won a bunch of tickets and got more stuff from the ticket redemption prizes than the birthday boy.

Okay yes, these are definitely the ones I recorded, haha. That rugrats mega nicktoon thing cuts off at exactly the same time as the files I ripped. Interesting to see these getting around. oi65.tinypic.com/15xu6aq.jpg

This might be the first volume in a while that I don't remember a single commercial. By this time, I was firmly in the clutches of MTV. That Magic Copier does look pretty neat, I hope the refills weren't too expensive...be easier to put "Hi Mom" on the piece of paper without the device. The animation in all of the cereal commercials is vastly different, I'd guess computers had a hand in them? Plus, Sugar Bear had to be a different voice actor. Also, Kellogg's (Sugar) Smacks? LOL

That were times when my niece would watch cartoons. Whenever I could, I would put on The Disney Channey or TNT or Nickleodeon. I can even remember watching some weird animated short with this mouse who did something to a radio that was making weird noises. And then there's this jazzed-up song of "What a Wonderful World" with acid-trip-like scenes and all that. Oh yes, I even recall a CGI short called "Tuber's Two Step" by Chris Wedge, before he would make Ice Age. Those were the days on Nick. I understand that people are not happy about how Nick is these days.
@DanZero778 жыл бұрын
Nickelodeon was famous for animated shorts between their programs in the 1980s. Tuber's Two Step was one of them. There were also the various "Sports Cartoons" with the hippo and the cat competing against each other, one I remember called "Fast Food" where 3 chefs decided to make green frog themed-food for St. Patricks Day, and shorts from the UK and Canada would also sometimes be on too.
@reimeiohcreatorforhire8 жыл бұрын
I found out later that the short with the mouse dancing to "What a Wonderful World" was actually a clip that came from a longer short feature that was part of "Cartoon Noir" that showcased animated short films that was geared more for adult viewers.

0:18 - PREPARE TO DIE, BUTTHOLE!! I loved Pete & Pete.. I was like 16 or so when I first had cable (and thus nick) and it was the only show I watched on that channel. I think the theme by They Might Be Giants caught my attention. Anyway I had two ginger step brothers and I would often remind them how uncool they were by comparison.
@GT6SuzukaTimeTrials8 жыл бұрын
Wow as soon as I heard him say that line, I scrolled down prepared to quote it. Lo and behold, you've beaten me to it lol well I was born in 84 so about Nona's age, maybe Little Pete idk.
@miketroncin7498 жыл бұрын
Under further research, I guess I wasn't watching the "show " ,but interstitials around '89 -'90.. I remember that was the summer I got a job and ordered cable. I had my checkbook starter kit and had them come by when I knew the parents would be out... I think it was like $30/ mnth That was so gratifying to beat my cheap-ass parents like that at their own game.
