I had a singular issue of that Fox Kids magazine that my aunt had gotten off of somebody in like 1996, and I kinda loved it. Had Carmen Sandiego on the cover. Always wished I had more. I remember it had a Beetleborgs comic made from stills from the show. And it had an ad for Nights into Dreams for Sega Saturn. I think local affiliates could customize it with their own pages too?

I believe I picked up Toon Shredder at PlayCo toys way back when along with a few other TMNT figures that day. I remember it was shortly after the third movie came out because I also picked up a Movie 3 Raph figure. Though I've since sold most of my TMNT figures with only a few remaining, such as the wacky action Raph and Mike (I don't think that's their exact names, but they performed some unique actions so that's what I'm going with) since they were my first figures, so sentimental value there.

Trying to pin down the date for this broadcast. It's Fox Kids on a Saturday morning in January 1993, but when? I believe it's from Saturday, January 23rd, 1993. Here's our clues: At 11:15, they're promoting an "all new episode" of Batman featuring the Penguin. So that would be the Batman episode "The Mechanic", which actually premiered on Sunday night - on 1/24/93 - not Monday - this was the brief period where Batman aired in primetime on Sunday nights, and the announcer was probably expecting to premiere on Monday like normal...but that's the only "new" Batman episode featuring the Penguin from January of 1993. Next clue: at 5:16, we have a promo for "Class of '96" a show which aired from January to May of 1993, and it doesn't say it's the "premiere" just an all new episode. I think it was the 2nd episode (January 26th, 1993). So I think this is a broadcast of Fox Kids on Saturday, January 23rd, 1993.

I feel like it’s just the parents faults. Anything you do online is tracked. If my kids data was tracked for the purpose of marketing, I wouldn’t really have a problem
@80sCommercialVault5 жыл бұрын
Regardless of your personal preference on data collection, COPPA is a federal law on the books that prohibits companies like Google from acquiring data from children and using it to directly advertise to them without parental consent. KZbin was flaunting their violation of COPPA to several large companies like Hasbro and the FTC got wind of it. It's basically entirely their fault, and they appear to be unwilling to offer an age gate or a "mixed-audience" option because it would limit overall viewership/data mining and hurt their bottom line.
@rockstarTraveler5 жыл бұрын
@@80sCommercialVault Since I have no idea how this works behind the scenes - does this new KZbin rule affect the types of videos you can upload? Or does it just affect whether or not the comments are "open" vs closed? Just curious. I would hate to see it stop you from uploading certain videos since you are one of few that puts up good quality commercials on a regular basis.
@80sCommercialVault5 жыл бұрын
@@rockstarTraveler It doesn't actually affect what type of videos I can upload, but on a video like this where the original intended audience was obviously kid-oriented and features toy commercials, it is more likely to be flagged as "for kids" by the algorithm they use and lose the comment sections (regardless of the fact that the content in it is nearly 30 years old). I'm not sure whether this algorithm actually looks at the content in the video to determine that, if it looks for things in the video description or a combination of the two. Since the first video affected by this was manually reverted back to being "not for kids" after two days, it may not be as big of an issue as I thought. But it's still something to consider when I am deciding what sort of content I'm going to post here.

I never thought KZbin would stoop even lower when the "K" word is censored when used. Don't get me wrong I love this channel, but KZbin these days is absolute garbage.
@80sCommercialVault5 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear, KZbin is not censoring anything. I am. I think the use of that word in the description of the last video might have caused it to be flagged as "for kids" by whatever algorithm they use...which automatically removes the comment sections. If self-censorship is what I have to do to keep the comment sections on these videos, I guess that's what I'll have to do.

I'm somewhat of a newcomer to your channel. I notice that you post in your "about" section that you don't post any commercials from after 1996. I wonder why that is? Is it because Fox Kids started to go downhill in 1997? (For instance, Batman went to Kids WB in 1997). Is it because 1996 is widely regarded as the last year "Millennials" were born? (Gen Z started in 1997, supposedly). Was it the rise of cable? Was the 2nd term of Bill Clinton as President where America started to go downhill?!? (I'm exaggerating, but was just curious).
@80sCommercialVault5 жыл бұрын
IMO commercials started to go downhill fast in 1997. That was the year ads for prescription drugs started to air on TV. I'm just not interested in posting commercials made after that point.
@Theonetruewonderfly5 жыл бұрын
@@80sCommercialVault That's fine. I enjoy all 80's 90's and 00's commercials...and a few late 70's era commercials. But not really anything before or after. Most of the commercials on my KZbin channel are from the 1997 to 2004 period (with a focus on Cartoon Network and Kids WB, because that's what I was into) and it is a different era from the Fox Kids early 90's years.
