Actually Mike on mk5 golfs the door skins are held with screws and you can remove them, no spot welds, but A LOT of bolts, Germans do weird stuff sometimes but it comes in handy when it gets dented, don't have to toss the door away hehe

love seeing the junkyard vids, always interesting how these cars end up there. its also astonishing how these cars get so rusty like bro just wash the car 🤣

For real tho! That S14 was so rotted!
@98-SR52 жыл бұрын
Living in Illinois, its inevitable. Salt gets trapped in places you can't get into. Yes washing the car will prevent major rot like this, but if you drive your car in the winter here with the salt, it will rust.

@@98-SR5where I live you have to worry about the sun eating your paint and when entering into your car in summer it becomes a oven.
@98-SR52 жыл бұрын
@@krle7970 Both my cars are from 02, and both still have gleaming paint even on top. The Impala has no rust, the Tahoe is just starting, but it sees a lot more winter duty, leather hasn't dried out yet. No place is perfect I guess.

Loving the junkyard videos! I hope that you can find more treasures for all of your projects so you can continue posting these kinds of videos. Also, huge respect to you for not trashing other cars even though they're in a junkyard. I also don't see a reason for anyone to further destroy something that's already far gone, or destroying parts that someone may not find useful, but could be useful for someone else.

On that GTI, the MK5 Golf/GTI/Jetta/GLI Models (and I’m sure others too), you could take the door skins off by unbolting them and replacing them. Made for easy access to the insides of the door

if you're going to be drifting the z32 it might be simpler to leave it as double wishbone, driftworks converted an r32 to use s13 front suspension but they didn't really gain much angle, it was mostly to reduce the ackerman and to save weight

There's no spot welds on a VW door, you remove 18 Torx screws around the edge of the door and you can remove the door skin. Not only is it easier to replace a door skin than it is to replace a whole door, it's much cheaper for VW to produce just the door skin than it is to produce a full door. It also comes in super handy if a window regulator fails, you can remove the outer skin and get access to the full innards of the door without having to strip your interior.
