Bruh Japanese 90s hip hop is literally American 90s hip hop but in Japanese. It’s not like other genres such as k pop is nothing like American pop nowadays
@kanta364
@kanta364 3 жыл бұрын
Japanese hiphop from the 90s is the coolest thing ever. Japanese is not as easy to rhyme as English, and we don't have a rhyming culture. Furthermore, people doing HipHop in Japan had the image that it was just an imitation of America, and a lame one at that. They thought it was a clone of America and that the real thing was cooler. This was a generation that did not pay attention to such criticism and stuck to what they thought was cool. Because of them, HIPHOP took root in Japan. Especially in the 90's, there were many questions about how to reproduce overseas RAP in Japanese. It was a time when people were trying to figure out what kind of HipHop would suit Japan. It's imperfect, and yet it has its own Japanese quirks, which is really great.

don't speak Japanese but how original the Japnaese instrumentals sound. I listen to Polish and American rap from the 90's and now Japanese. That picture is so universal. Ok the fashion is different, but in the end, no matter what scene you were in, you know that moment. Some room, tagged walls, stickers, beer, someone lighting a spliff. Japanese is my 4th language and I am giving all the Japanese I understand to make sense of the lyrics as much as I can.....I love it so much, the flows and bars are at par with 90s American Rap, so mindblowing. I love hip hop so much as it held a special place to me when I was learning English. It made me absorb English faster and learned to appreciate wordplays and figures of speech, sadly modern hip hop ain't created like this anymore. Plus, hip hop beats get me going with my day.

ECD deserves massive props. Proud working class rapper whose lyrics championed the plight of the worker, dropped out of high school to pursue music and during his career staged several anti war and anti racism protests, even openly criticized the Japanese government for omitting the nanjing massacre from Japanese textbooks. He unfortunately is no longer with us. RIP to tha legend

One of my first jobs was cleaning a private christian school in the evenings. I would listen to this when cleaning the second building. Everyday once this mix came on ik it was almost time to leave and i was almost done. It wasnt that long ago but it feels like forever ago. Listening to this now it takes me back to those dim hallways and the smell of the waxed floors. Thanks for this mix.

I remember listening this same track listing when i was unemployed and slightly depressed in 2012, and i remember these songs making my day a lot prighter(and now also). Japanese hip hop instrumentals&sampling is so unique and the flow of Japanese language so cool sounding. Shakkazombie is awesome, i remember finding out from either cowboy bebop or some other. Maybe ghost in the shell series had these too.
