Fantastic job. I've been mountaineering and hillwalking for 54 years but have thankfully never had to call you out, but it is really good to know you are there to help, very well done.

Outstanding work. As a regular hill walker, thank you. Btw, this may seem like a draft question; is there a reason the helicopter didn't land for the casualty to be placed directly in it if the wind was too strong to hover for a winch at the casualty site?

The issue wasn't that the wind was too strong. It was that there wasn't enough wind once it dipped under the edge of Kinder. The S92 uses the headwind to help it hover, if there's little or no headwind it needs to use more engine power to hold the hover. They have a rule that they need to keep 20% spare engine power to use if they need to get out of trouble, so as he was pulling over 80% power to hold the hover he called it off. We carried up to the top, but it's a slow incline above Kinder Low and the next suitable landing site would have meant carrying a lot further, so he offered to winch once we got above the top and back in to the head wind. It also meant it was a shorter winch, so we didn't need to use a high line to stop the stretcher from spinning in the down wash.
