All with just that one pile of crushed asphalt? Nice job.

Hi @teak5476 -- Most driveways don't need a lot of new material to make them "new" again. Usually, they just need all the existing rock (or crushed asphalt) cleaned up and regraded. New material is only necessary if the original base is too thin or if a lot has been washed away and is unrecoverable. This driveway had a decent base and most of the aggregate was pushed to the edges so I was able to pull it back into the laneway and regrade it. Most of the new rock and asphalt was used to build the new 40' wide apron/entry and to thicken up the parking pad in front of the house, which was woefully thin. Thank you so much for watching !! Have an awesome day :)

The people paying the bill have a lot of input on what gets done and how.

why not cut new pipe and and 10ft to both sides instead fo tearing it all. to accomplish the same job . the pipe conectors have to be cheaper then all your man hours with equipment. or you justified your bid cost by tearing it all out.

Great question. A 20-foot piece of pipe cut in half costs the same as a 20-foot piece of pipe left alone. These pipes do not have stand-alone fittings; they are slip-joints with rubber gaskets. Far superior to galvanized steel pipes with additional fittings, and very cost competitive... The time difference in digging up each end vs digging up the whole pipe is less than an hour. And perhaps most importantly... The client was given each option and chose for me to do it the way I did. Thank you very much for watching !
