Tbh I use Phenix's K2 rods and I've gotta say that its more sensitive then my NRX( IMO). Its also more balanced but the only downside to it is that Phenix overrates their rods(For me). I feel like sometimes when i set the hook the rod is gonna blow up( I also feel this way about my NRX too lol), I have also used the Poison Ultima rods love them but just too much for me. all paired with either Chronarch Mgl's or Aldebaran's depending on how i feel and where I'am. Keep it the work love it!!

There’s nothing quite like your first real catch on a “new to you” bait. I remember my first jig catch. A bass caught it on the fall under a dock, I watched my line start moving to the side, set the hook and pulled in a nice little 2 pounder. It sounds goofy but it felt like I’d entered some sort of bass fishing fraternity. Up until that point, the jig seemed like this mythic, expert level bait that only serious bass fishermen knew how to work. I now realize that any slasher with decent pitching technique/color selection can throw one haha

I have yet to catch anything on a ned rig myself. The places I fish are often shallow, and weedy. If you fish a ned rig in such places you are going to be cleaning scum and weeds off your bait after every cast. The best route to take with the TRD plastic, in my situation, is to just t-rig it weightless. Maybe add a tiny bit of weight to it so it suspends, instead of sinking. I did this with the TRD tubez, and landed a number of bass with the xf50. I used a # 3/0 finesse hook. In the water, the tube has a nice movement, and dives a little bit as the hollow body takes on water. When you stop the bait, it slowly rises to the surface. The hookups were better with the hook point exposed. I imagine the TRD itself would probably make a beautiful topwater bait. I tried it last year briefly, with a small EWG hook, and it floats, and casts fine. You could easily throw that on top of a buncha pads, and drag it over them. I do this with the zman finesse worms too.

I use a St.Croix Legend Xtreme / Aldabaran BFS HG for Ned rig type baits. Using a thin braid to fluoro leader instead of straight fluoro does much more for sensitivity than any rod can. Also casts better, nearly doubles the line capacity and braids are typically more than 40% lighter than fluoro sitting on the spool.

Use the 1/15 oz jig head 90% of the time. Slow fall is a super important part of the presentation. I've caught more bass on the Ned rig than any other lure. Full disclosure, I fish finesse and UL techniques almost exclusively.

For better sensitivity try a braid main line to a fluorocarbon leader line. Should improve casting distance and sensitivity.
@doggmansnapperdude34055 жыл бұрын
CRO Bassin what if I just use fluorocarbon all the way mainline and everything?
@crobassin69425 жыл бұрын
Doggman Snapperdude it just won’t be as sensitive, braid has less stretch than fluorocarbon and so it transmits impacts a little better than fluoro. It is also thinner than fluoro which allows for longer casting distance. Fluoro main line is fine, some people actually prefer it, it was just a suggesting and you should use whatever you feel most comfortable with.
@Jon-nz3dm5 жыл бұрын
it is the best system for all applications(other than deep diving cranks when you want to hit a certain depth). you can take a $200 rod and run braid to leader and have the sensitivity of a $300+ dollar rod that has flouro on it. not to mention it saves you a ton of money long term. you just tie a new leader each trip and the braid lasts for a long time, I usually only have to change my braid 1-2 times per year(it lasts much longer than this, but it does lose strength over time).
@crobassin69425 жыл бұрын
Jon L you are correct sir, bread to fluoro is great and i even use a braid to copolymer for top water
@Jon-nz3dm5 жыл бұрын
CRO Bassin I pretty much always use a mono leader. It takes a knot way better and the stretch makes it much less fragile than flourocarbon. I’ll use flouro when I’m fishing certain bottom baits or when I when I want to get a a moving bait deeper without going up in weight I’ll tie on a 10-15ft flouro leader.

I fish the Ned rig on both my Aldebaran 50 MGL / 852c NRX and Exsence / 852s NRX setups all the time lol. Cheap baits and cheap setups aren’t mutually exclusive by any means. Just remember to keep that pinky finger extended out when you’re casting those NRX’s though. Make sure everyone at the golf course pond knows you buy the good shit.

Frank C - Shimano. It’s the Exsence 3000MHG model from the US Market. Shimano also offers a JDM Ci4+ Exsence model at about half the price. That model shares most of it’s parts with the Stradic Ci4 though.

Frank C I used to flex from the bank with Megabass rods all the time at the local park and golf ponds before I picked up the NRX’s. Not as weird of a flex but still comically overkill from the bank.

I agree with one of the other comments. You should try braid. Suffix 832, diawa x8, or any 8 strand braid. 10-20 pound braid casts so far with anything. I use 30-40 cause I fish offshore in a kayak and could hook into something big

I use a Shimano Nasci on a St. Croix 6’8” Mojo Bass drop shot rod. Love this combo for sensitivity. I can feel a fish fart with this setup. When fishing a Ned Rig, there is no need to work the bait much. It’s a sit and soak bait. I only move it by picking up the rod tip and reeling in slack to move the bait when I’m not getting strikes. I noticed you working the bait a lot. You need to let it sit. Try soaking it. I know that can be boring but it works. Let it sit then lift and reel slack every 5 seconds or so. But that’s about as fast as you want to go. Good luck.
@jesfishd13235 жыл бұрын
I have 3 NRX. 2 spinning and 1 casting. Paired with Stradics and a Calcutta TEDC. I feel lucky to own these and can vouch for the sensitivity. You can actually feel the fish inhale the bait. Gloomis and shimano are a winning combination.

Hi, I would like some advice for a casting rod (high end) that I can use in finesse: mainly wacky rig and neko, with worms up to 5 "leaded down to 1 / 8oz. I would like to know if the nrx 852c in the video is suitable for wacky or neko rig or too fast as an action (thus risking to move the bait too much during the shaker). Alternatively I would have evaluated a conquest mag bass (842c, up to 5 / 8oz, power M) or a steez racing design 6101ml + fb. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I live in a lead free state. I can not find tungsten or steel mushroom head jigs. So I try to imitate a stand up jig head using tungsten jigs. I have been using the Ned Head style of fishing for a couple of years and have had some outstanding days on small streams and rivers with moving water. The bass seem to love the TRD especially in The Deal color. I have had days where it is back to back catches on almost every cast. Needless to say the little TRD and big TRD are my new favorite soft baits along with 5” Senko’s.

The pick up is often tough to feel - so they swallow it..ned rig works great and kills a lot of fish - crush you barbs with this! Then you have a chance of taking hook out without killing the fish - learn how to go thru bigger.lower gills and back out that hook from the gullet - you do this wrong and even if she swims off, she is dead. Crush your barbs - no matter how sensitive rod or line - it will get swallowed. Leaving it in each spot - “deadsticking” longer works better.
