900 Ton York Centrifugal Chiller Start-Up. Chiller was being restarted after rebuild. The readings were not making sense so I was sending the video to a friend for help via KZbin. In the end we found that a value had been changed in the analytics that threw of the readings.

Tonnage is calculated by taking the chilled water delta T x gallons/minute chilled water/24 (hours) gives you ton hours. 53 return - 42 supply temp..so (11 degrees X 1500 GPM)/24 = 688 tons/hr.

chinakrit srikhamyod The bearings in the chiller are prelubed before starting. This is to prevent accelerated wear on the bearings when it starts up.

I run 4 York machines and love them. Just some thoughts on what I see and hear. It really sounds like you have bearing fluting in your motor bearings, and the last time I had the issue you seem to be having with the low pressure, the actuator on the refrigerant level valve was loose holding too much back in the condenser.

Does this chiller have a VFD on it? It starts really slow.

+ryanm Yes. They call it a "frequency converter" but it's basically what you are describing. It does this to keep the electrical load low during startup. This chiller also speeds up and slows down as the thermal load changes.
