900BHP 2.2l EJ20 SUBARU POWERED VW BEETLE

I caught up with Dave Crowhurst at the Doorslammers event at Santa Pod Raceway, where he was competing in the 4cyl Class in his Subaru powered VW Beetle. Last year Dave had a few issues with the power delivery snapping stub axles on the start line. We had a quick chat to see what changes he had made.
Dave's current PB is a 9.51 @ 146mph, which he got very close to, with a run of 9.56 @ 143mph

With that horsepower 900. Definetly invest in a link shifter with a Haltech cpu. That bug will hit the 7's

And some sort of 2 speed powerglide equivalent auto gearbox. There seems like a lot of milliseconds being left on the table, especially between shifts. I wonder what it would do with a quick shifting trans like what is in the JPM blue 1776 bug?

Would love to see someone build a flat 4 aircooled engine to make 900 horse power maybe possible with billet everything and cams water cooled heads? I dont know im not an engineer but want to see and hear that before I die.
