Katharine McPhee is simply a phenominal singer with the voice of an ANGEL. When she signed with Verve Records several years ago the president of the label said he believed she would be one of the " greatest artists of her generation ". After listening to this song how could anyone disagree. If they can give her the " right " songs for her next album she will finally achieve the status she deserves in the music industry. She really is " one of a kind ". What an extraordinary talent.

I remember I was about 6 when Kathrine Mcphee was on Anerican Idol. I was always memerized by every performance, so when I heard Kat was in SMASH, I knew she had to good. And she suceded. Great job to the cast of SMASH, and to whoever created this song! Can't wait for Season 2!

IMHO, when I saw Ivy sang the National Past Time, I was like "Ok" but when I saw Karen sang "Mambo" I thought "She's not Karen, she's Marilyn" Ivy's voice is strong and powerful, I give her the credit. On the other hand, though Karen's voice isn't Ivy-strong, hers is sweet, fragile, sultry, naughty, and in some point, can make it powerful. Qualities Marilyn had. And when she sang "Don't Forget Me", I can't see Karen, or Katharine, all I can see is Marilyn Monroe asking me not to forget her.

There's a lot of hating going on which I don't understand because no one forced you to come to this video or listen to the song over again. I can't understand why people don't understand that they are both talented singers. Ivy (Meagan's) voice is too heavy for this song. Karen (Katharine's) voice is lighter, pure. I had been waiting on them to top "Let Me Be Your Star" all season, and well, this certainly did the trick! Such an incredible song, with an incredible voice to carry it. This number blew me away, the same way that the regionals version of "Don't Stop Believing" from Glee did. And Glee has yet to top anything that came out of Season 1, with the exception of "I Will Always Love You" and the entire Whitney episode from this season. Let's see if SMASH can keep this momentum going!

This song is beautiful. I had heard rumors before the series even started, that this is supposed to be an actual musical coming to Broadway. The purpose of the series was not just to shine a light on the musical theatre, but a form of promotion. The actual process of producing a musical is exactly what the public needs to see. Although the character storylines are entertaining, this is the kind of stuff that happens behind the scenes. Having done theatre, there is so much drama backstage.

I've been hearing comments like this for months. The show has been full of surprises throughout and has been reminding people about the legend that inspired the show within a show. I think part of the reason you might like it is because of its subject matter - in it being a tribute to the legacy and mystique of Marilyn Monroe. FYI: This Sunday (Aug 5th) marks the 50th Anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's passing.
