Love that Yamaha TX81z 'Lately Bass' (Think it was also on other Yamaha FM synths). Had a TR707 too back in the day. But the 808 and 909 dominate. Nice grooves showing how the MPC is not just for lo-fi, hip hop and trap.

Silky and the beats are very well written! Q. Did you create the drums using the MPC or the 909? I have a Live2 and I’m looking for any vids on how to create that exact style of beat but I get lost in the swing settings every time. I’m guessing your have triplets turned off too?

Not in sync. But if you do want to, I suggest making the MPC the master clock and setting ableton’s midi clock delay to compensate for any latency

Hi there! short question ...can you load multiple sequences/ Songs in the same time ? for example if you would like to make a live session ..

Yea! In my live set I have approx 4 sequences per song. 1 for each section of the track. Then I compose mostly by muting tracks within a given sequence!

Lovely lovely jam. I'm curious about your process here though ! Reason why - when software started to take over, people would always say that the MPC had more 'punch'. Now, i'm aware that different models had different sonic characteristics, but the MPC 1000 isn't really one of them. Yet, here everything is sounding punchy and groovy right on point, without effort. And i believe that timing and clock has alot to do with that. And i believe that's the reason that everything sounds punchy and on point, not sonic character (timing and envelope has an impression of punch on our hearing). So, i'm just curious about your processing on the kick and drums, what processing was used in recording, or maybe whether you did any post processing, like a mixdown and mastering. The kick has perfect punch, and the beat is locked tight, and that alone makes you wanna dance to it. Oh, and whether it's a straight kick from the RD9 or you have created your own kick with layering maybe ? Would appreciate any info you can share ! Cheers :)

Hey thanks for the support :) Mpc 1000s sound is not the best so I chuck all my drums through my boss bx16 mixer to crunch them up a bit! In terms of the timing, the mpc’s clock is on point! No compression on any of the drums, but I believe I drove the input gain on the kick to beef it up! The master was ran through an SSL bus comp and limiter :) The kick is a sample played out of the mpc btw

I don’t really layer my kicks because it can get quite messy very easily!
