Used it several times in this application and for plaster substrate for backsplash, (even though the Mosaic thinset says you can just go right over top of the plaster at the bond I do not trust it) and have had zero issues and great results

I use the Mapei version of this. You can tell when tile was placed on top of the cutback because they sound hollow when you tap on them. The primer is very easy and simple! Thanks Isaac!

Can you put that directly on top of linoleum sheet flooring, or do you have to pull up the whole floor?

They also sound hollow when they're not installed properly... thinset skinned over, failed to back-butter, etc. One thing about tile over cutback though, is it's easy to remove!

@meetstepsisalcoholicdouche61672 жыл бұрын
Thats cutback adhesive and yes you can 100% go over it. Just read the bag whatever you are patching with like ardex. Do do not scrape or sand floor unless you know it's not asbestos
@bsmbB2 жыл бұрын
If you sand cut back it doesnt turn in to dust it just cakes up in to little balls and most patching leveling compounds that actually are "able" to go over cutback require you to scrape it to the concrete the glue ridges are gone. But where im from the home owner can legally remove asbestos products from their own home
@meetstepsisalcoholicdouche61672 жыл бұрын
@@bsmbB it cakes up a bit yes. Really you don't need to remove it unless it's thick. Personally I just patch over it with ardex like I've been the last 25 years Ardex you can go up to a 1/2 deep so you can just skim over it If you know it's not asbestos you can sand it. If it's thick sure it will cake up. Thays when you bring out the scarifying plate.
@bsmbB2 жыл бұрын
@@meetstepsisalcoholicdouche6167 ardex states in their surface prep tech sheet that cutback must be thin enough to apear as a stain on the concrete or it must be carefully removed. And you have to check with the adhesives manufacturer if the bleed through will cause the new adhesives to not bond to the patching compound if it will you are supposed to bury it with their leveling compound. I guess you been doing it wrong for 25 years

Hi, been looking at uncoupling membranes. Was being steered to Blanke Permat because the claim is that it adds substantial strength to the floor in using the mat. Nowhere have I seen any comparison tests on crack isolation or strength claims. Loved your tests on grouts ,very surprising. Plenty of people using these uncoupling membranes but no comparisons. Saw Sal DiBasi's endorsement of Blanke Permat. We may all be surprised in a real life comparison of products in tests.
