Excellent explanation. Just a reminder not to forget to use brake grease on slide rods and all points that have metal to metal contact.

I always clean the bearings and inspect the rollers to make sure they are in good shape to reuse. If they are, then repack them with fresh grease.

That was great, also if the break caliper is bad. Do replace. I had one replaced on a vehicle in the past. Just an inspection thing to look at while doing brake pads. Nice to have combined the bearings and rotors in this. I did not realize how much more I could add to greasing. Thanks. @ Kenneth Grimes, I agree, when replacing bearings, I was advised to replace the races. Wishing all well

If you don't have a 3/8 Allen you can use a small chisel or punch handle which are usually 3/8 hex. I cut off about 3" and use with a socket.

You should spend the rotor as you put that castle nut on cuz you might not set that outer bearing back far enough like it should be

@@kipc8734 It's sad because when I worked at a auto shop, nobody taught me how to properly use jack stands. They were using the hydraulic jack only. Lol. I did my own research and learn from other people mistakes and try not to repeat them.

I hate those calipers that you have to remove both guide pins i think the ones where only one pin is removed and the caliper can just be lifted make things alot easier

Wouldn't you want to wipe off the caliper piston before compressing it? I imagine your forcing contaminates into the piston, but I'm no mechanic just a a/c tech. I wish I saw a jackstand or something, but otherwise great video!
@slalomking
@slalomking 2 жыл бұрын
No, the rubber boot comes out with the piston as the brake shoes wear. So that piston surface is under the boot and should be clean. Unless the boot is tore.
