The main problem is that we, as Americans, allow data brokers to collect our data without restrictions and sell it to third parties with no oversight. Much of this sensitive information often ends up in the hands of cybercriminals who target our most vulnerable elderly population. In Europe, regulations prevent the sale of personal data without the consumer's consent. However, in the United States, there are no laws preventing data brokers from collecting highly sensitive information and sell it to cybercriminals.

*VAULT GUARD EXPERT* this is SO GOOD!!! I have such disdain for people who lack empathy for hardworking individuals. I LOVE what you said- there's no room for hate, but that doesn't mean you have to like them either. I am SO GLAD you showed up just in time to return the funds to their account. This is why I watch your videos, and I couldn't admire what you do more. Thank you for protecting innocent people. Thank you for reporting criminals. Thank you for doing what all of us would do if we could. Keep fighting! Much love!!!

This is why elderly parents need to allow more transparency with their finances so their children can keep tabs on it. Many older people won’t even bank online but having an online account allows you to immediately know if somebody has gained access to it.

Any sums of money below a certain $ threshold being wired to international locations should face an automatic delay and scrutiny as these monies are near-impossible to be recovered. If the funds are being sent to a domestic account, then the authorities can investigate the owner of the account who is based in the U.S.

This guy does more to prevent and stop online scammers than the FBI. not only are you closing the way for scammers, but also educating the public and making them aware. Well done *VAULT GUARD EXPERT* .

I have two responses when someone I don't know calls me wanting info, or coming on with fearful stories. I tell them I never give information to a stranger who calls. The latest was some guy with an accent saying he was taking a poll. He began by asking personal questions.I noticed a rooster crowing in the background. When I started laughing about the rooster he hung up quickly.

Unless it involves planning a surprise party, ANY TIME a voice on the phone or a computer message tells you to keep something a secret alarm bells of the Big Ben variety should go off in your head. Talk to someone IRL!

This can become complicated also because, in my case, I suspected my mother might be using the possibility of being scammed, as a way to threaten that I wouldn’t get an inheritance, if I didn’t jump in and fix everything, that didn’t even have anything to do with a scam. It was as if, “If you don’t drop that job…” So, you’re not sure who even you’re being scammed by, as the adult child. I think she was scammed once, by a “Nigerian prince” but, it could be because we’re black and so she felt it must be true.

@@mikew.to1 yes, I couldn’t help my mother. She was an extremely determined person, who had the mindset of sunk costs fallacy and seemed to start to think she was running a little cult, where the long failed family business was concerned. I decided to leave, to avoid abuse and if she became a ward of the state, so be it, with all assets going to them. She ultimately spent all she had, on an intellectual property case, so she only left debt and 2 home in poor condition, one of which I now own. The other part of the problem was that I have a younger sister, who felt we were both to comply and so she tried to bully me into it. So, I had the difference of having a sibling, that was also dedicated to our mother’s mindset. I could help neither. Now that mom is gone, she’s made her own trouble, by stealing from the SS Admin. You just learn that helping stupid crazy people, is a fool’s errand.

Banks in Australia check when large sums of money are getting transferred. Also most shop assistants also check when several gift cards are purchased

If someone tells you “ don’t tell anyone “ more than likely it’s something that you shouldn’t be doing 🥴

These victims are from a different time. They don’t think like we do. It’s a different mindset. Example: My mom is 81. She put together a family history book. She didn’t understand how much easier it would’ve been to create a file & email it to our relatives. Instead, she wanted to make multiple trips to Staples to have photos and papers hand copied. I created a scanned file & emailed it out, but she didn’t understand how that could take 3 hours versus 6 separate multi hour trips to Staples. You must understand these elderly are from a different era, their minds are different too. It’s a mindset. They need to be protected.
