My man, Carlos. It's so good to hear his voice live on. I bumped into Carlos in Newark before he died and we chilled for a minute. He always had his handy video camera on him and he blessed me with an impromptu interview for some projects I was working on. Although for personal use, I was honored that Carlos interviewed me, as I was just a teen watching him interview up-and-coming greats like Madonna and Run-DMC on NY Hot Tracks in 1983. Carlos was a Latino Trailblazer; a radio Pioneer and an all-around good guy. I was honored to carry his casket when he passed. Gone but never forgotten! R.I.P. Hermano.

Carlos De Jesus was a NY legend back in the early '80s. New York Hot Tracks was my favorite show and in my early teens I was glued to the TV every Friday night @ 11:30pm to see all of the hot Black talent and new music stars. May God bless your soul in heaven Mr. De Jesus 😇🖤💯

Carlos DeJesus went down in history as one of the pioneers of hosting the top rated video show of the 80s generation. What made New York Hot Tracks so popular, was that we had the chance to see US. Musicians who we only heard from the radio, yet not in person. Soul Train was one circuit. But when the birth of music videos emerged.....so did the ratings for NYHT!! It's like, interviews that we may have heard on the radio, we got to see live from various NY nightclubs, on network TV. Not cable. And not Friday Night Videos either. Run DMC, Shannon, Force MDs, New Edition, Madonna, Globe & The Whiz Kid, the list goes on..... I only knew of his passing for a few months. Carlos was about our culture. S.I.P. brotha......

I'm sorry that he's dead, but DeJesus was unspeakably rude and crude when my musical group met him at a promo event for our album (released on Casablanca) It was was set up by the record label. I have never forgotten what a jerk he was. RIP, I guess.

Sorry that was your experience with him. What band did you represent during this encounter? Time frame was Early 80's?
