Judy's iconic voice represents eternal youth, as her beguilingly clear speaking & singing voice has hardly aged and still miraculously retains its power & beauty. Throughout 6 decades Judy Collins is as relevant as ever.

Just watched and absolutely enjoyed the whole show. (I usually skip through such long shows) I could listen to Judy telling those old stories for hours and hours. Also loved the songs they did at the end, especially Strangers Again (Ari is a great guitarist btw) Can't wait to hear the concert she did in Bonn, Germany on May 20th, 2016 again, that was actually recorded by a radio station that evening, which will be broadcasted next week on October 3rd. Thanks a LOT for sharing this video.

RITA COOLIDGE wrote the piano part to Layla. Her X abusive boyfriend, Jim Gordon, along with Eric Clapton stole it from her. Graham Nash was a witness to her composing the song

Really, I'm the 101st. Yea ha. Where is she from? Irish, Danish? I am a man of constant sorrow. My blessings. She is a history book. You know what they say about liberaris. She reminds me of my 300 yr. ago childhood. I was 205. 1950, something. And old lady who has lived a long time. When I was five, I didn't want to hear an old lady talk on our two channels. Eva; not Gabor. She had a t.v. show in Fairbanks AK in, oooh about 1959. It was the old 1908, version. Like the NP used to print: well,(the Swede version) the local ladies have done there' part to help. The Van Beurans will be staying In AZ for a week or two. Judy Collins. Really. It sounds like the law firm my mom worked at. Co.

The great drummer Jim Gordon was not on drugs Judy when he killed his mother, he had undiagnosed schizophrenia that had been developing for years. He is incarcerated in the California Medical Facility -- a medical/psychiatric facility at a prison -- but not what would be considered a jail. He has been denied parole ten times. This has been confirmed. I'm surprised Anthony DeCurtis (whose usually good with details) didn't catch that error. I've like the solo Judy Collins for decades, and Ari is a good artist -- but their pairing is mediocre at best. Nothing exciting. Her collaboration with Stephen Stills had more lift & their voices seemed better suited. Judy, Judy, Judy...an artist should be paid royalties when they sell albums, songs, or perform live -- the original & any covers (in stores or internet). They should not get paid royalties for radio broadcasts (unless the song is used in an ad). Why? You -- the artist -- want airplay. You need airplay. Artists are always complaining about not getting radio airplay. But then they want to be paid. For what? That's how you sell your music. Why should a radio station pay for the use of your song when they are playing your song to thousands if not millions of ears listening to their station? They are helping you to market your product.

They pay the composer and the record company, why not the singer? Records sales and downloads are nearly non existent now. Hits are all about streaming and airplay. BTW Jim Gordon's incredibly heavy drug use (which undoubtedly Judy witnessed when he toured with her) was likely responsible for his transition to schizophrenic behavior. BTW Gordon stole that piano section of LAYLA from his girlfriend Rita Coolidge. Graham Nash witnessed her compose the piece. She never got paid a penny.

@@taddyd1 - Alright -- the paying of the composer & record company (residuals) is done through belonging to BMI or ASCAP in the US. They are the monitoring systems for performance royalties. Any issues go through them not the singer or artists, not the radio station. Record sales & downloads are good enough still to get a good residual but it's been true for decades that recording artists make their money by performing live & selling souvenirs & if they wrote their own songs publishing rights. The record company gets the bulk of the mechanical sales of records/sheet music publishing & licensing (to movies, soundtracks, TV commercials etc). Jim Gordon's condition may have been due to his drug use. But then you'd have to explain how so many other rock singers who also did heavy drugs never developed schizophrenia. Yours is a theory but not substantiated by the medical profession. I have two friends who never did drugs & have this condition. What you say about Rita Coolidge is true (I heard this story as well) but my friend -- you don't get paid residuals on a piece of music you never copyrighted or published. Rita played the piece in front of witnesses but she never published it. Proving it's hers would be pretty difficult in a court of law. When Gordon played it on Layla -- it was published & he got credit along with Eric Clapton. That's the name of the game.

@@lastrada52 Drug induced schizophrenia is a well known medical diagnosis. Try Googling if you doubt. Gordon was a major drug fiend by many accounts. He was 38 at the time of the murder long past the usual age of 19 for non drug induced schizophrenia. PS your explanation of how royalties function is also well known and not in dispute. Is it fair to the performers? Why should Berlin get money but not Bing. Stations not playing and people are streaming Ringo or Fats Domino's versions but Bing's.

@@taddyd1 - The music business or if you prefer industry (which it has become) has never been fair. My only issue is the radio. They should not have to pay anything. They are promoting your music to their audience & radio audiences can be nearly 1 million with all the affiliated stations & internet hookups. Artists who wrote songs should be paid for other covers -- if used in commercials, etc...They get paid additionally when they sell CDs, records, streams, publishing & live performances. How many ways can a single person get paid for the same thing? And many of these arrangements were made prior to Berlin & Bing. That's what's unfortunate. The last time I looked you can write a song & copyright it for 27 years, then you can renew it for another 27 years. After that, it possibly falls into the public domain. I'm not sure if Congress ever changed those rules. But once it's in the public domain there are no residuals for the writer/artist. If that wasn't so you'd have to pay the writer of Happy Birthday To You every time you sang it. It's a dicey business & you have to read your contracts carefully. Some songwriters thought Elvis was a bit of a hard ass because whenever a songwriter approached Elvis to sing their song Elvis' management insisted on the publishing rights or at least a percentage. Why? Because Elvis was a guaranteed hitmaker if he sang your song. That's why they approached him in the first place. So, it was pretty fair. Dolly Parton didn't think so. But whenever you see Hill & Range Music, Gladys Music -- that's Elvis' publishing house. Songwriters generally didn't care because they knew if Elvis sang it they'd get paid pretty well. Then of course, if your song is placed in a motion picture & the soundtrack sells a million copies or more that's additional income. TV commercials are best -- every time the commercial with your song airs the cash register goes off.
