I love it when she talks about being a director with an actor's point of view and approaching her actors with empathy. I think in any job where you must work with people, in order to truly be successful, and work well with others, you must have empathy. She is so emotionally intelligent as well as intellectually intelligent. It is refreshing in Hollywood.

The Bronte joke was right on ! After I heard it, I was disappointed in myself I didn't think of the comparison between the March sisters and the Bronte sisters. Also, one of the painting in the movie looked like the portrait of a Bronte sister.

She didn't quite name it, but she talks about the beginnings of transness that were conceptualized through Jo and Laurie. And that Jo's longing to be a boy could very well be instigated by the misogyny of Alcott's time, yet Laurie wanted belonging with the March sisters as a sister himself. I loved this interview, and Gerwig is an icon in my books.
