I love your story. My daughter in-law is Korean and I don’t think I appreciated that it might have been hard for her when she came to America already married to my son. I recall the first time when sitting down to eat at their home my daughter in-law positioned all the food right in front of me. I looked up at her and asked her why,,,,,,,,,she leaned over and said with the most respect “Daddy you King in my house.” I still get tears in my eyes thinking of that time years ago. And to this day she treats me this way. My son Todd (retired Full Bird Colonel) got to meet your mom and dad Levi at the Paul Bunyan show this past fall.

Happy Anniversary Folks! My wife and I grew up and went to the same school. Our fathers worked for the same company. We didn't know each other until I saw her at the movies. She was with a couple girls I knew in my freshman classes. I asked them to introduce Us. We were 15 and 16. We dated for 3 years through high school and married after my graduation in 67.55 years this November!

A week before the date of this video was our 28th anniversary. I'm from Indonesia and husband from CA. We met in Indonesia at a university where we studied (he as exchanged students) and got married there, but the following 2 years, we lived apart. I stayed there to complete my degree and get a job. He went back to the US as his visa expired a week after our wedding and he couldn't find work to sponsor him and extend the visa. Husband came from a small farming town in CA, but when I arrived to the US the first time, I came through San Francisco. It was a shock for me too when we drove back to where he actually lived and worked - to my new home from that point on basically. It's a contrast from SF that's (at the time) cool, green, hilly and the buildings/houses were small/compact, all close to each other even shared walls and some were very ornate and colorful, - just like where I came from, to open fields, mostly 'flat' ground and not as green, cow pastures, chicken or turkey farms, interspersed with fruit orchard or vineyard or produce farms, and the houses were the typical single story, low and wide (what I then learned as "ranch-style") and wood-sided. Funny to remember it now, my first shock wasn't cultural or social difference, but more of landscape/architectural shock. I didn't really interact with people until probably a month after my arrival because where we lived was very out of the way, in area more populated with wildlife than human - my 'next door' neighbor was about 7 acres away on either side, no houses across the street from ours and no occupants in the one house I saw behind our plot land. I didn't drive, and we only had one car that husband used to go to work.

What a wonderful video, you two!! As I watched your video and the story became better and better, I noticed that the sun outside began shining more brightly as the story progressed. Maybe that was our God indicating, yet again, His blessings upon your lives. You and your children are major blessings to thousands of us! I just wonder which denomination church you attend. When you mentioned that Levi had gone on a mission for his church, that sounded like a practice in which the Mormons engage. Personally, my Christian faith is very important to me and the older I become (I'm now only 74 years young), the more important my faith is to me. When I was a child, people would ask me what I want to do when I grow up. My answer was always that I want to be a missionary, because my family was so involved in missions around the world. I grew up Southern Baptist, but our strong family always impressed upon us that God was no particular respecter of persons, particularly which denomination we are...just as long as we focus upon our love for Christ, our Savior. But, then, instead of being a missionary to foreign lands, He directed me to become a school teacher and it was the best thing ever to happen to me, because I had so many students come into my life and that gave me an opportunity to live out my faith in front of young people so that they could watch my actions and hear my words and know that my faith in God and my service to Jesus Christ was sincere, so they felt safe with me. Oh, I had a miraculous career as a junior high Industrial Arts teacher, then middle school principal, then a university professor...and I still have close friends from all those experiences. So... That's why I'm intrigued to know which denomination church you attend. Thank you for sharing your story. And, I wish you two the very best as you move through this life! ~ Dr. Larry S. Except for the 4 years I was in the Air Force I have lived in the New Orleans, Louisiana area since I was 12 years old. Today I’m only 30 minutes from the Super Dome without any traffic delays. Parts of New Orleans never closes. Some of the businesses in the French Quarter don’t even have locks on the doors. So we understand the way of living in a city like Bangkok.

There are many good lessons here for people in budding relationships. My wife too, had to push me into making a decision about our future. Kate is wise for realizing how precious time is and how it is not to be wasted. When you know what you want, you need to, "seize the day" (carpe' diem). Thank you so much David! I agree with you completely! Kate has great parents as well. Unfortunately her mother passed away this past January. It has been very hard for Kate but she has remained strong. She was such a good mom to Kate even from being on the other side of the world. Her mom and her dad don’t speak very good English, so all of my conversations with them have been through Kate translating. They taught her a lot of important life lessons that she still keeps with her today. I am grateful for them and their influence on Kate because it helped bring us together.
