when he explained about how they don’t try to repeat what they do on past songs etc., they come more organically, that’s my favorite thing about deftones. every song is so unique to one another and for a fan of their sound it’s really rewarding to go through their whole catalogue and finding all these different worlds in each song. chino also being more a fan of instrumental music definitely utilizes his voice in a very instrumental way as well. i find it blends with the music very well and doesn’t tire you out. the band as a whole shines as one entity. amazing stuff and grateful to be a fan. so excited ohms is right around the corner!!! great interview by the way! asked a lot of cool questions. i’ve been watching plenty of deftones concert during quarantine too and getting really into them. started learning some riffs too. so far lhabia is a favorite to play :p

This was such a great interview which led to more intimate questions and answers I’ve always had for the band and Chino. A huge takeaway for me is that they don’t regard themselves as the best musicians and that there are some recognized painful moments in the form of live performances. However, this is trumped by the fact that the group remain best friends and, still to this day, can come together to create beautiful noise that always manages to catch my attention. Can’t wait to hear the new album! Pre-ordered the vinyl, CD, and cassette tapes. I love their music ever since I first heard Teething when it came out which prompted me to purchase Adrenaline and ATF.
