You don't need to remove the axle to change the wheel cylinder do you?

Get the nickel-copper tubing. SO much easier, and well worth the extra cost. Fitting and longevity too

What is the PVC looking tube/pipe setup on the front for? Simply curious. Thanks for this video! I'm in the process of replacing my break lines and you've provided a good deal of helpful info!

Nick, the reason for the special fitting on the rear line is for ease of production. the rear line is all the same for abs and non abs models, all that changes is the little peice you removed from the prop valve. the abs is all metric bubble flares. thats why the special fitting.

Good to know, thanks. Figured it had something to do with factory time savings.

How funny is that, I had to replace the rear brake line on my fathers 94 cherokee sport back in December, I ended up just ordering the whole brake line from moparpartsoverstock for 28 dollars (I know, I don't know how it was that cheap). But it is also very possible to remove wheel cylinders from Chrysler 8.25 axles if you wiggle them out right, I've done it quite a few times. Awesome work.

I don't think I've ever seen a servo so rusty. If you're using steel brake line you need a really good quality brake flaring tool, if you use copper piping (as I use on my Rovers) the softer metal allows you use a cheap flaring tool - like the one I picked up for $15. I have to do this job on my 97 JGC that's been off the road for 9 years so thanks for the upload.

that's the cheep flare from OEM reproduction. the double is actual OEM. the metric cuppling is from a repair prolly brought at an autoZone type store.
@gmoney95887 жыл бұрын
You've done a fine job and produced a good flare which is something that is still an art and a hinderance to some , despite their best attempt . If ever anyone would need to deal with running new line and there are different size thread and different flare ( metric versus SAE ) , just use all one flare and join together with a union . In this case , if the short jumper is needed to simplify going through a fender well , the union will make routing tubing from a roll that much easier . Every job is different though . Who expected there to be two different size flares on both ends of an adapter ?

What size is the brake line?
@NickInTimeFilms3 жыл бұрын
Should be the standard 3/16
@jasondillon42493 жыл бұрын
Is that 3/16 The whole way? Or is there a different size that connects to that line?
@NickInTimeFilms3 жыл бұрын
Should just be one size all the way through
@susu-mi7kx5 жыл бұрын
is this for a 2001 grand cherokee laredo too. 3/16

No idea, but 3/16 is generally the standard size. Google can always confirm

I'm wondering how you keep your XJ semi rust free? mine is going to live in the salt flats very soon, it's rust free except for the usual differentials. should I start putting a 100 layers of paint on it now?
@NickInTimeFilms7 жыл бұрын
Good Question, I guess I've been sort of lucky so far. The main things are taking care of water leaks, and coating stuff. I undercoated the top and bottom of the floors to keep them in one piece for a little while longer.

The mixture of atf and acetone can be stored for long periods. Best in an hdpe plastic container or glass. Many videos on testing it. One test comparing different penetrants said it took 235 lbs for wd40 versus 53 lbs of torque for acetone ATF mix to bust a rusty nut. Its an old homemade recipe. Seeing all the rusty bolts you have back east it may help a lot. No rust for me in the Socal desert and I cringe when I see vehicles all rusted out.

Hey man great video! I'm glad to see somebody out there doing them with so much detail since most of these kinds of jobs are a pain. I've had some pains in the past bending my own lines, mostly due to operator error on my part or the car I was fixing the last guy did a wack job, so thanks for giving people a good guide! I did end up going with pre-bents (here's the link for anyone curious moderndaymuffler.com/collections/brake-lines-hose-kit/Jeep-Cherokee-1995) just to save myself some time lol. Regardless great job man and ty for the video

That seems a little unprofessional just leaving old parts flopping around. Best to actually use the factory clips
