Mr Darryl Brohman, thank you for sharing your story. What an awesome interview and a great insight into a man who always has made us laugh, and yet he has a deep well full of humour and sadness. God bless you, Darryl. Great interview James.

I was once at a corporate even for work, me and my colleague noticed Darryl there. I really wanted a photo with him as I've always loved him but I didn't want to bother him. He approached us, as he saw we were looking over at him, and asked us if we wanted a photo with him. I have met a few famous people who have taken photos out of obligation but I have never met someone so genuinely nice than Darrly. He not only rook photos with us but had a chat with us for a while. I will never, ever forget that and I always make a point in telling people how kind and genuine of a man he is. Thank you, Darryl. Never change.

Terrible to hear about his son. I never knew about that and it hit me like a tonne of bricks when he said it here. You can see the pain is still very much there 37 years later. I'll always feel so bad for any parent who loses a child.

Great days living in Canterbury in those days had season tickets back then in the stand only grandstand I remember having a bar in it the old fashioned grounds im talking about the Eels v dogs games were always sell outs if we won you would go up the the leagues club then upstairs to Johnnie's disco big man was always dancing fantastic times and the dogs were winning which made that great decade the best years of my current 56years on this earth

Being a a blue who lives in Queensland I had to do a delivery last Wednesday to Lismore... for those who don't know, Lismore is on the far north coast of nsw... Anyway as I'm rolling out I give the boys an "up the blues" and they all laughed at me. Turns out they all support Queensland anywhere up on the north coast of nsw 🥺🥺🥺 I absolutely love Darryl, thank you for interviewing this funny legend of the game.

26:10 Not for the fans. Maybe it has for the (ex)players because there's much less loyalty to one club going on. Players are changing clubs multiple times in their careers, many more times than they used to back then. And what you see every game now was unheard of - players from the both teams getting together for a friendly smile and a chinwag on the field as soon as the siren sounds. Half the time you wouldn't know which team won the match, they all look so happy to be there. This is because most of them were all teammates at some other club at some point in time. I can tell you, leaves a lot of us fans shaking our heads. It used to be "take no prisoners", now it's a social bloody network. For the fans, players come and go, but we stick loyal to our side forever. Hatred. Rivals. Tribalism.

I have not missed an episode and love your podcast but I will say James, are you honest in promoting McDonalds? Especially when you promote AG1. When Daryl asked you that question it was the first thing I thought because I cringed when I first heard it.

It's because for many decades up until recently, we were always successful, always near the top. So as other teams cycled through their periods of success, there was always one team they'd be playing come semi-final time. Us. And the other is where we're located - territorially we're pretty much in the middle. So we have borders with Parra, Wests, Balmain, St George, Cronulla, Souths and Easts. There's no other club that has that. Makes us natural rivals. For pretty much all the 90's we were winning late season opponents to the star Brisbane, Canberra and Manly teams. And when Newcastle and Melbourne started, they each took our coach and many of our players to get them successfully going. Also look at the media - our ex-players are everywhere mate.
