For the first time in Explomo history, we are exploring abandoned places in the Eastern side of Europe. Our first country on the list is Poland.
We start our journey deep into the Polish countryside, where a lonely house is standing amidst the fields. Built in 1928, what tales does it still hold within its weathered walls? That’s what we’re here to find out.
From what we know, Mrs. Gertruda lived a long and storied life here, caring for Norbert after her divorce. Their life was filled with the beauty of simplicity, immersed in the rhythms of farming and the company of their cattle. Picture it: a quaint farmhouse, surrounded by fields of grain and the gentle rustle of leaves.
In 2016, Mrs. Gertruda was 95 years old and quietly passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of memories within the walls of her humble home. In the wake of her loss, her son Norbert remained living inside. Yet, his presence was fleeting, and not much later, he vanished without a trace, leaving the house to the whispers of history.
As his whereabouts remained unclear, and time marched on, the house became lonelier than ever before.
Join us now, as we go in search of answers and breathe new life into this forgotten corner of the world.

Nice to see you in Poland. It's different when you look at a country you know well. Those caps you found in large quantities are jar lids. In Poland, we still preserve food in jars for bad times, or to enjoy our garden produce even after the season or in winter. As you know, summer is short. I think the house has been searched and vandalized multiple times. People in the villages are modest but organized because they don't collect many things. They don't have time for nonsense. I greet you very warmly and welcome you to Poland.🥰

Good evening (at least here) and now the sun is out too late 😭 the solar eclipse was anticlimactic as the sky was filled with clouds. It did get dark out and the streetlights came on when the solar eclipse happened, so that was a highlight. It's my second total solar eclipse and the first one was spectacular. Back to the video 😂 It was a very touching compact house. I liked the white cabinet in the last kitchen (?) you were in. I think Remon might have been correct in saying that he thought that a farmer might still be using the property. The farm equipment looked like it was in good condition and I believe I saw tire tracks too. Who knows though...it's a mystery house. I'm so excited for this series. Now, you asked where you should explore next, but you already know my answer 😂 If I win big in the lottery, I'll definitely make sure you get the funds to travel to ⛩️🇯🇵 but you'll have to be escorted by an elder; me 😂 and I promise I won't actually go exploring, I'll make sure you have a nice Ryokan to stay in whenever possible and I'd like to join you for meals and quiet explorations in the countryside. Stay safe and ☮️ until next time.

Beautiful old farmhouse...It looks simple a cozy... No one wants to live in a lonely farm or be away from the city now... That dining room was beautiful and pristine.. Now it is a sad lonely house in the middle of nowhere....It is untouched by bad explores yet...It must have been amazing to live here when it was Alive with animals and people.....The Son wanted to live Somewhere else or have a family... Great Experience to see this beautiful homestead...

Hey dear Maureno and Remon from fabulous team Explomo, that was a very fascinating tour through that mainly untouched abandoned farm house somewhere in Poland. Great explore, respect! I also again loved listening to your wonderfully formulated introduction with several poetic accents! Such a great pleasure! And - the new title intro is really breathtaking and so very imaginative. - It was really exciting to follow you on your explore tour through the rooms of this house. I liked the still beautiful main living room with some nice and neatly arranged items like the furniture and some really beautiful porcellaine ware and glass ware in the cabinets. - Very strange to see all those clothes in the attic! - Somehow I was also quite emotionally touched by the background story about Gertruda passing away and of her sons whereabouts, nobody seems to know anything, when he disappeared from this location. - Very fascinating explore start in your Poland series! - I am already looking forward to your next explore adventure. Take care and stay safe! - Wishing you all the best, peace and kindest regards from now rather cold and snowy Switzerland.

those are jar lids and they are not collectors. They use them to store compote in jars which lots of Polish, especially older people do. You put fruits, add water and sugar. Put it in a big metal pot and boil for few hours. Then you can store it to be used through winter. The same goes with cucumbers.

We used to switch out the clothes from winter to summer. Most stored in the attic. Saving things doesn't seem strange to me. We were raised to be frugal. If it has been vandalized, they didn't take muc, and were very neat.

Ramon is right - that place is still being used to at least store equipment. Someone has recently mowed the grass there also. Is she was 95, then her son had to also be elderly. He may be in a care home now or also passed away. Great to see you two in Eastern Europe 👍

Glad to see Poland. It is beautiful there. I am sure the good farming equipment is still in use. The attic was special. To find Cannabis oil shows she knew how well it worked for pain, sleep, anxiety and even keeping cancer away. Her son as of 2024 would be if still alive, anywhere from 82 to 88 years old. If he had children they would be in their 60's even late 60's. I do think possibly this farm may be still run by her kin people 🤔. Loved 😍 it!

I have a guess. If Ms. Gertruda was 95, her son could easily be 75. Both of them might have mobility issues and that's why they lived together on the ground floor. Norbert could be single and once he passed away after his mother, the house was abandoned and if he had children, they might not be interested in inheriting the property or maybe they couldn't afford it.

Well if she was 95 the son be 70s so more likely got ill and has pass on,hmmm. At that age where else he would want go,unless went cared for by other family, but seems less so. More likely health than off adventuring,a good son caring for his mum. Mysteries and just assuming.
