Good low cost option instead of like a 103 nick Williams or Katech. Just get the 95mm to 103mm adaptor so it's a smooth transition.

@@mouse6.2 you reuse the stock o ring. And the adaptor will come with o ring needed for it. If you order from rockauto, just throw another o ring in the cart.

I just bought ported intake manifold to 95mm and soler 95mm TB which will fit directly to the intake opening. I have a C8. Since there’s no tuning yet will this set up be okay to run without any problems you think?

So I am going to assume the c8 is similar torque based system. So it will be OK driving, it will have lower timing due to the more airflow at idle. My opinion is it's not going to hurt anything.

Thank you for a very helpful video. One question. It seems like the adapter is the bottleneck, so is it possible to install without the adapter by drilling into the TB? Otherwise, how did “porting” the adapter go?

U can drill and install directly but the lt1 or lt2 intake throat need to be ported to clear the throttle blade. Opening up the adapter was really easy with a sandpaper flap wheel. I only opened it up from 87mm to 89mm. On the lt1 or lt2 the throttle opening will be a restriction at some point if u have heads and cam probably. I am giving up maybe a couple hp but for a fraction of the price it's still a really good option. Car pulls strong at high rpm! 🔥

@@EssMotorsports thank you. I just ordered the LT2 manifold and LT5 throttle body. Planning on drilling the throttle body to bolt it right onto the manifold without using the adapter. Will be porting the runners and throttle opening on the manifold. No plans to do cam/heads in the near future- just long tube headers, e85, and tune (already have CAI). I like the LT2 better than the MSD because of: 1. Price 2. Low end hp/tq is better. What do you think of all that?

@@joshshipp1 yes. Ported it out so there was a small step down into the manifold (better than a step up) and sealed it on with a liquid gasket

You think it’s possible to the port the adapter to match the 95 throttle body and port the neck of the Lt2 manifold to match the new size of the adapter . So instead of it going from 95 back to a 87 due to the manifold . Port as much possible from the Lt2 manifold and try to match it with the adapter(ported)

Companies to do this like GPI but u can't port enough to have a true 95mm in the manifold neck. It gets too thin.

This may be a better option for me than to get the current 87mm TB on my 19 Sierra 6.2L (L86) the replacement ported TB from Katech. I went that route on my previous 17 Silverado 6.2L and had a noticeable difference between the two but at the end of the day, it was still an 87mm TB. I'm intrigued about the LT5 (ZR1) TB and how it may perform on my truck over the stock L86 TB. Given that the LT1 and L86 share the same parts, minus some differences in that it's a truck motor vs sports car, it should be the same installation. Nice video, I may go this route over my previous thought. I like running Corvette parts whenever possible, they always seem to work better that way.

I would do the 95mm over ported 87mm because when they port 87mm they take out the ramp which causes lot of airflow right off idle. Which can cause Torque management issues. 95mm probably is cheaper as well

@TheWolfMatt no HP gains as the intake necks down to 87mm and engine can't take advantage of the airflow. It's more throttle response/driving feel.

@@EssMotorsports Quick question. Did you have to install a new boot/sleeve for the increased diameter of the TB on the LT5 vs LT1? I'm thinking my factory bs is probably too small to fit the LT5 TB.

@TheWolfMatt I had the rotofab sleeve which was pretty flexible so it fit good. I didn't try with the factory tube.

Good video. Food for thought for when mine is out of warranty. Like the LT2 concept. Don’t know if it would fit under the strut tower brace? It would be cool to some how modify the stock covers to fit on top so it looked un-modified. Look forward to seeing your drive/tuning

I believe on the 6th Gen forums people have installed the LT2 intake with a strut brace. But you have to trim the ribs off the intake top or notch the strut brace.

If I remember right I tired quickly to put covers on and was like not going to work. But I didn't try to hard. I like it better without. Someone on Camaro6 forums would probably know.

Hey brother, from novice to novice.... I got a question. I installed the 95mm granatelli TB on a 2018 ram 5.7 Revved great in Park, but when I got her on the road and got on it, I had like a total system failure. All kinda dummy lights including the electric brake system. The code was a TAC failure. I recently got the unlocked PCM for tuning with the flashpaq F5 Any input on how to get this thing tuned properly would be awesome. I'm pretty new to the new vehicles and engine hop ups.

Is the 95mm TB for a Dodge? Or camaro/gm. I doubt it will work if it's a GM tb as they aren't going to be interchangeable. Programming is going to be different

Idk about HP but I can definitely see from my logs I have way more airflow off idle. So it is more of a linear airflow curve then the stock TB. The throttle body is also I think is what changes your tune the most with the different airflow at lower rpm. Wideband would be recommended 👌

Didnt see a header vid. After header install did you make any changes to O2 setting in HP?? eng,fuel,o2 senor, proportional and integral delay??

I did not change any of those settings. From other tunes I have seen on HP Tuner forum they changed the proportional delay. Not sure if that is needed or not. I actually put all my settings back to stock in this tab and am going to retune my VE table this spring. Trying to get my ltft to be more spot on.

@@EssMotorsports agreed about the comments I actually have a channel for my car and my truck got a good amount of views and subscribers. anyway yeah I thought it was a little weird put a straight edge ruler getting a very very small bit of light through I'm going to return it. Looking forward to that torque tuning and anything else you got there's no videos out there

I'm not completely sold on this mod bit I do appreciate the video. I hear your argument on the flow comparison but to spend that money on a spacer and throttlebody only to neck it back down just doesn't seem like that would be much of any gain. I think I'm gonna stick with the stock one and use that money somewhere else.

If your looking for hp then headers be your first bet. Intake Manifold second. This is a supporting mod.

Sure if does, 90mm effective opening is like 86mm or something, 95mm is about 91mm so you neck down but the 90mm opening is seeing a full 90mm of flow

How does this affect throttle response? I understand the concept of airflow and engine combustion but I am assuming youll get better pedal/throttle feel with this larger TB? Also can you do the LT2 intake manifold without a tune?

Throttle response is hard to say yet as it's not completely tuned yet and I have timing taken out which affects throttle response a lot.

About the LT2 intake its not a for sure yes or no cause every setup is different and I didn't run just the LT2 intake. But I'm trying to lean the car out actually cause it's actually too rich! Idk if that's because the rotofab or what. But the stock tune up top is not far off

Dude I have ported my throat of the LT2 to make the opening a true 95 mm opening. You have to port passed the gasket on the intake throat to achieve the true gains. Port the opening and you will be happy and it’s not that hard to do with a demral tool. 😏

So I do not have to port my lt2 intake manifold throat? I’m buying a lt2 intake manifold unported and want to add the 95 mm tb before tuning. So I jus buy the adapter and plug and play? With no porting or special modification to the unported lt2 intake manifold ?

You still have to add the fitting in the back of the lt2 manifold like I show in the video and shave bottom. But no porting internally.

I installed a lt2 manifold and lt5 throttle body but when I turned on the car it wouldn’t turn fully on it would like choke out so I tried the stock tb and the car ran fine did I just get a bad tb ?

Car should run pretty damn near normal with lt5 tb even without tune. Did a gasket get missed on the adapter? Something to that affect? Otherwise it might be bad

U don't need a tune for it to work. It could cause some driveability to low throttle openings witthout a tune. But won't hurt anything

Yes u need a coupler for the 95mm unless u oblong holes out to fit. Coupler is easy way.

The adapter makes it so its a plug and play event. Otherwise the bolt holes don't line up. Pretty sure the butterfly would hit too.

@@EssMotorsports but the adapter takes it righ back down to a 87mm opening. I think what Slick Rick was trying to say is your not taking advantage of the 95mm opening. You can I a ICT adapter to line up the bolt holes, then port the snout. Thats what I did on my cammend L86.

I put my lt2 intake and put it on perfectly and next week I will be going for my tune w e85 flexfuel ‘ I have another question if u don’t mind ‘ so I bought the 95mm TB with the adapter but it says that it requires tuning to run ‘ can I put it still put it on then a few days I will get my tune ? Or is it a tune required immediately after putting the TB on ? I’m afraid my car will stop running or something if I put it on right now

U can put it on. Let it idle 3 min shut off, start and idle 3 min again. As long as it doesn't throw a code it will be fine for couple days. The car will limit torque because of the extra airflow at low rpms. Wait for wot until it's tuned tho to be safe. 👍

Yes u use the factory o ring on manifold and then the adapter has an o ring for the throttle body side

@@EssMotorsports I’m trying a ported LT2 on my corvette and the o ring spot was ported out. So I put RTV on the manifold, then the paper gasket, then RTV on the adapter, then bolted it down. Currently letting it cure now. It had a very high pitched whistle.

@@Stock_c8 yeah if it's ported and o ring is gone I think u just use rtv then to seal it up. The paper gasket probably isn't hurting anything tho.

@jesusceja-serrano2212 very minimal if any with a lt1 and lt2 intake. If u have msd then more worth it because the throttle opening is bigger. It's more for throttle response

Hey bro I have a question I'm having some fitment issues with my cia I need a spacer to move my throttle body forward a little so I was thinking of using this I can't find anything else at a reasonable price. So my questions are how thick is this spacer and also can I make it work with my stock throttle body?

How much clearance do you have from the elbow of the cai to the radiator? In trying to figure out what size spacer i should get? I found a 1/2 " and 1"

I measured and my adapter is .5" and I have .5 to .75" clearance to radiator

I don't think that would work well. It would make the angle for the cold air pipe even more difficult

The tapered down 95mm to 87mm to work with either lt1 manifold or lt2 manifold. Since my lt2 was unported.

Richard Holdner had a really good live talk about throttle body size. Good listen. Basically, the 95mm is not going to add any power but will improve throttle response.

Maybe not worthless, just not a power adder. I would buy mine again. Just saying if you have to buy other parts as well, I would get intake manifold, headers, air intake first.

@@matt6951 LT2 u could get away with the stock throttle body. If you go MSD the 95mm would be a good lower cost option compared to the nick Williams or katech TBs. Buy 95mm from rockauto if u do it was only like 160 when I bought mine.

From the butt dyno I doubt u could tell any difference. But from tuning logs I believe it does let in a lot more air at lower throttle opening. To take advantage of that u would need a tune tho otherwise the cars torque management just limits the car back by pulling timing. Moral of the story is my opinion is its a nice to have which doesn't hurt anything but not necessarily need with stock or lt2 intake. If running MSD I believe there would be gains then.

The intake bore is smaller then the new throttle body then you will gain nothing.

That wasn't from the throttle body. That was from the headers. Been running the TB for over year now and no issues with it.

I seriously don’t know how people ar3 comfortable committing a felony by cracking their ecu with a aftermarket tune which is in vio of epa regs and manufacturer regs and void their power train warranty instantly. I don’t get it.
