96-00 Civic Lower Control Arm Bushing Replacement

Thanks for checking the video out, this job was pretty simple and straightforward; though some parts definitely fought us along the way! By the magic of editing, you didn't see the full hour of fighting with that stuck bolt and getting the first bushing out..

Great video. I have a 96 EK in Australia. My control arms didn’t come apart like yours (all one piece). With the bushes I drilled / jigsawed mine out. I got the same result in the end. Thanks

taken off my civic suspension fork a bunch of times a jack on the lower arm to line up the fork hole works perfect it wiggles in with no hammering

Installed some upper a arm bushings on 88 civic you know how the a arms won’t move when the bolts are tight, when I installed the poly bushings the a arms just swing even after tightening the bolts the bushings just swivel on the steel insert

I am definitely going to tackle my front Lca's this week but I am thinking if I have a ball joint press, It might save me some time instead of removing that bolt u heated up and used the impact on.. would be great but I'm not sure if id have enough clearance to do so. But I'm hoping the c clamp will press it completely out with the collar so I can just go pop the new ones in . Awesome Video now I know exactly what to expect !

@@TBsGarage Yeah the tool worked pretty good better than I expected because getting everything else done was a nightmare everything was factory but so busted up so bolts seizing and snapping left and right lol. But now my whole suspension is complete I couldn't be happier. Thanks a lot !!

They don't last You let the car sit for a few months they'll rotten that happened to me I had to change everything again after I did lower control arms everything parked the car for a year when I started driving the car All the polyurethane started coming apart now I'm stuck with the luxury replacing everything brand new that I haven't even driven on yet so make sure that you keep silicone on them keep greasing them every few months if the car is parked because once you move it after it's been sitting for a while the polyurethane comes apart that's what I don't like about it they're good for handling but they don't last long if you let the car sit.

Prothane bushings don’t act the same as rubber, they are much harder and naturally slippery. There was lot of greasing and anti-seize not shown cause of the ‘mechanical aptitude’ needed for this job

Yeah, I always clean-up threads (both tap & die), wire-brush and re-paint parts that come of the car. In this case, *definitely* those outer washer thingies. And then anti-seize & add washers wherever appropriate. BTW, my prothane bushing kits came with a silicone grease packet.

@@jimwinchester339 mine came with grease as well, if you forget to put it on them they’ll squeak.. I think I missed that in the vid so I’ll add it on the comments. Also, I do use anti seize on basically all of the bolts and nuts.. not always gonna show it because some people have pretty touchy opinions on it, but nothing ever goes back together and is hard to take back apart if you get what I’m saying
