17:30 not 20 years too late, still rocking my mk3 astra estate! Works perfectly fine, but I'll be replacing the bushings on both sides as they're over 25 years now and there are some slight clunking sounds. Will also change the CV boot (changed it a couple of months ago but it's too short and came off) and the guide pins on the brake calipers. Could probably do with a new wheel bearing on one side, but it isn't bad enough to warrant immediate servicing. All in all, it'll be about 30€ and a day well spent. Either way, thank you for the video, it's nice to see it being done in a car of this age. Best regards, from Portugal 🇵🇹

Oo, aircon then. This one originally had air shocks on the back and air con, did not work but it was fitted. The inside used to steam up chronically!

Another vehicle repair! Has your telly broken? Did I see your C/V gaiter split at 4.27? You could try another ring/combination spanner on the open end of your spanner to give you more leverage.

Telly fine, just trying to catch up with stuff! 4.27 was oil on the gaiter. I have tried the old ring spanner ploy before and it's slipped so this time I thought I'd put the boot in!

@@sleepycatpictures1176 My knuckles agree with you on the spanner ploy.

Good video but I would be reluctant using that extension to increase leverage on a ratchet as you will damage the mechanism inside sooner or later. If you've ever taken one apart to repair it then you'll have seen how fragile they actually are. Just use a breaker bar with a socket on then switch to the ratchet once it's started moving.

Yup! Tool misuse is widespread in our house!

I still own this car. 8 years and still riding well. Torque specs appreciated I have haynes, factory service manual and german book from Etztold about this car and every single one of them lack one thing which other have and backwards. Although with 3 books in hand it's hard to find right torque specs for some things. Especially like this job and I had hard time finding right torque specs for the front frame in my language it is called "kolyska"/"sanki". Great car for daily driver, extemely cheap and realible to hell, gas mileage is also really good for it's engine.
