97 Subaru Legacy GT-B Soundfile - Stock & No & Custom Exhaust

My black GT-B's exhaust had a few holes, so I figured I would modify it a little for better flow (and sound ;) while I was at it.
Midpipe was completely rusted through, so I built a custom one out of a 200CPI Magnaflow cat and 60mm pipes.
Modified the back box by turning the original, chambered design into a straight through design.
The result is a better engine response, because of faster spooling turbos and of course a better sound, without being noisy.
I'll probably make another video with the exhaust being at proper temperature later.
...of course I could've just imported something from Japan, but the black GT-B only being my daily driver, I decided I would go for the cheaper solution. Hardly paid 200Euro on the whole exhaust now, including the cat, gaskets, new rubbers and screws, pipes, sheet metal for the backbox, etc.

My dad used to own one of these, he kept it in mint condition. Cleaned it every day after work. Took it for Sunday drives around the twisty back lanes in Ireland. It was one of three registered in Ireland, now it is it the hands of a absolute dickhead who takes no care of it, he throws fast food boxes in the back of the car and scratches it. Basically he has no respect such a fine Japanese car. My dads 97 Legacy was a SE model, his was 2546 out of 3000 made. I want to buy it back off that guy and restore it to its former glory.

My dad had a 94' GT and loved it to bits as well, absolute minter. Unfortunately it got nicked (A bit of a problem with Legacy's of that era in NZ) I was only 11 when we last had it and wasn't old enough to appreciate it properly. I remember the awesome sound and the second stage turbo pull in the higher rev range. I really want to buy one for my first car!

Do it! I have a 97 legacy outback and it needs a lot of love but I’m gonna try and also restore it. I love this car it’s a tank and very capable. Drunk driver hit me and totaled his car and all I lost was a bumper!

sounds best without an exhaust. If you get pulled over, tell the cop you just put in the exhaust and you are headed to the muffler. or get cut outs.

So this is basically a down pipe/catback exhaust? Did you take out the resonators with the old mid-pipe? I'm looking for this sound with my 99 GT-B. Your car is almost identical to mine except yours is a second gen and mine is a third gen.

+KALI1080 The only thing that's still stock is the down/y-pipe, so the first cat behind the 1. turbo is still in place. Second cat got replaced with a 200CPI one and then it's all custom built out of 60mm steel pipe. Backbox is the only resonator left.
