I've ran the sound board at one of America's best hard rock clubs, including for Shinedown's first major US tour l, so I've seen thousands of shows and bands Brent always floors me acoustically, especially with Fly from the inside, definitely not an easy song to pull off, even if it is your song! Phenomenal job fellas!
@glenbishop946510 жыл бұрын
It's funny I usually don't comment on videos because its a bunch of he said she said bull. But if you really listen to music there are two types of singers/bands/artists. Ones that sound good on cd where everything is produced and mixed and cleaned up like most pop singers or teen pop. Then you have singers like Brent Smith who sound great on cd, but can stomp on just about any other singer acoustically. That's what makes them so great they don't need mixing and producing to sound amazing... His pure heart and talent show threw when he sings even more so when its acoustic because its so raw. Thats my two cents....
@JacobAvnerPr1mus39 жыл бұрын
Have you seen there Kansas City acoustic show? That was amazing to watch. I liked that he changed up his voice a bit, like he went lower than the album during the chorus of if you only knew, and does an awesome job with Devour.

You are 1,000% percent correct. Most other bands can't hold a candle to Brent Smith's kickass vocals. The range he has & his passion for the words is pure bliss. Live or studio recorded... Brent's talent has been so far unmatched in my eyes.

Here's the breakdown in response to BadAndy's question. I had some time on my hands and figured I'd help out. He goes flat at least a half step at the following points... 0:36, 0:47, 0:52, 1:27, 1:34, 1:37, 2:10, 2:16, 2:28, 2:35, 2:38, 3:18, 3:28, 3:39, 3:59...and that's being conservative. And if Bad Andy asks, you can tell him that this information did come from a vocal coach with Certified Perfect Pitch... i.e. you can tune a piano to my voice.

Back then Brent was high on oxycotin and cocain, as well as as much booze as one could tolerate. Now, he has been clean and sober for 3 years, thanks to the birth of his son. If you were a real Shinedown fan you would know this as he talking about it with an open heart. I think the music has evolved just as he has. His songs are about life, his and others. His words are not always what they seem to be, often a metaphor. His voice is better than ever!

I love Jasin and miss him. I still follow him and await the day he joins a band again. I'm a hardcore Shinedown fan and I'll be the first to admit, Brent needs professional vocal training. He has a very hard time staying in key. But he is a great big ball of emotion, so it just comes out. I don't have a problem with that.

Brent can't always sing as high as he does in the recording, it takes a lot out of you physically, and its an acoustic version many artists bring it down in pitch. It was pitchy, but he might of been in the midst of decided what he was going to do with it and flopped .

This is Shinedown..... The stuff they do now is so horrible >< I miss Brents wonderful voice( I mean yeah he sings on the new stuff but listen to them back to back, they edit his voice and it makes me sad) I saw them in concert in knoxville and it was awesome ( I got to Bash buckcherry to the Lead singer and some other band member) I dislike the singer of buck cherry ..... but i still like the old shinedown

@stevebannon18046 жыл бұрын
dawgyv72 no he’s not actually and I’m a big shinedown fan haha it’s what happens when you’re young and have a fresh voice and put out a record where you’re absolutely belting it... 5-6 years down the road after heavy touring you’re not gonna be able to sing the shit you released in your 20’s with a fresh voice
@Dudelookslikeeylady16 жыл бұрын
lol are you serious? Never seen anyone and I mean anyone in my entire life with this much voice control as Brent has. Do u think its easy to tour 365 days a year and sing songs without having days when your troath gets soar and tired? Ever tried singin songs like save me or fly from the inside? Not many people can pull it off. and it does take a toll on your voice. Mabye this wasent his best preformance but a helluva lot better then anyone else would have been able to sing it!

THIS is the Shinedown I love, I just saw them last week, and something's just different about them now. They've (or I should say Brent, the only remaining original member) have lost the grungy, southern rock look and tried to modernize somewhat. There's just something not the same anymore... Plus he's a heck of a lot fatter now than he was here
@nyjbarnes15 жыл бұрын
I still think the guitar is being played out of tune, whether not tuned properly or technique. It sounds out of tune. Also, the harmonies aren't there which he could be trying to compensate for on the chorus. That's a mistake, but whatever. I still like the song. I don't expect shit to be perfect; that's what record companies have sold you. Perfection is not real music that's produced. I like it raw.
