Good Video, I'm putting one back together that had the spacer for second gear put in backwards, Spacer on the "in" side of the gear... Dude couldn't figure out why his oil was all sparkly!! The gear ate the case a bit but it is still useable....

I had the same bike. Loved it Yeahaa. And i'm making that installer for the crankshaft. Maybe weld 2 bolts together and put a washer in the midle so it stops when hitting it. You gave me inspiration.

Good video. Thanks for the info on the puller. I think I’ll do my own next time too and make my own puller.
@xxnickthegreekxx8 жыл бұрын
One thing I'd say to do before removing crank installer is look at the gap either side of crank to make sure you in evenly both sides apart from that good video. Had issues in the past with fibre paper gaskets in the centre crank cases, now I just use gasket maker like this.

good work!! helpful...as I am doing this with my KX 500. Very similar internals to your KX 250 :)

Does it matter which way you put the shift drum in as long as it’s not upside down and the forks line up with the grooves? Like does it have to be rotated at a certain spot before connecting the forks? I would think that the only way you would mess it up is if the forks didn’t line up in the groove

Hey buddy I have the exact same engine as you and its my first time rebuilding the whole engine, when you install the shift drum are you installing it in neutral ? and also if you are and you click forks into the drum is the gears in neutral by the way I live in Scotland and you saved me like £140 for a crank puller plus shipping etc etc thanks buddy ;)
@ninja-ns7vn9 жыл бұрын
yes its in neutral and it should spin freely when closed, glad i could help from oklahoma! thats awsome
@D93LAF9 жыл бұрын
+ninja4207 thanks buddy your videos been a great help and yeah its amazing how far the youtube videos can travel lol your video explains it very easy for people who ain't mechanically minded lol also when you installed the crank you say you heated your cases up how long did you do it for as aluminium is very easy to melt i'm a little worried about doing it i know you have to cool the bearing down and heat the case up and do the same with the crank but its how long do i heat them for ?

motordale I found it at a fastenal in my area. It was not easy to track down
@motordale6 жыл бұрын
That was a good idea. I live in a little bodunk town, but we do happen to have a fastenal here because the power plant is close to us. Go figure. Thanks for that insight. Maybe I'll get my kids bike back together now. lol.

@kevinstearns41989 жыл бұрын
you put to much pressure on that crank with that tool i use a rubber mallet evenly all the way around with the bolts in. then tighten them as the case goes on.
