On June 26, 2018, Myerstown resident Bob Brocklehurst took to the skies in a High-Winged Decathlon stunt plane and performed a series of aerobatic maneuvers over an FAA-approved sky space, before returning to a successful landing at Lancaster Airport in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Bob did his own flying under the watchful eye of co-pilot Zach Hurst, a certified stunt instructor. The flight was dubbed, "Myerstown Flight 250" in honor of the 250th anniversary of Myerstown, Pennsylvania.
Extensive TV and print outlets carried the story. Some of the TV coverage was picked up by affiliates around the country, which explains this remark from Brocklehurst, “I have had cards and letters from all over the country, from as far away as Alaska, and from people I have not heard from in years. I can’t go anywhere in and around Myerstown without being recognized”.
This video premiered on August 25th at Myerstown, Pennsylvania's 250th Anniversary Celebration called "Weekend at the Park". Bob was featured on-stage and awarded a Legacy Membership by the Myerstown VFW Post.
