Unfortunately in this article included photos were not consistently of Flat-Coated Retrievers. Labrador Retrievers and apparent mixed breeds were presented as though they were examples of Flat-Coated Retrievers.

This title is such a bait.. Or maybe just applies to America. When you pick a breed, you learn about it before puppy arrives...

I think AKC limited registration makes getting a,flatcoated retiever very difficult and expensive. Auch decisions should be made when they are older and can be given health tests. If a flattie isn't good breeding stock then alternatives to sterilize should be used rather than removing their sex organs. They need those hormones. I hope the comment keeps just one flattie from being mutilated by drastic measures denying them of their gender. Think about it. 😢

Spaying/neutering dogs have both pros and cons. Both the pros and the cons are pretty important issues that impact a dog's health and welfare, so no matter how much we argue, there will NEVER be an answer to which side of the argument is "right". So you coming to a conclusion just by your snowflake emotions is dumb, and to call it a "mutilation" (rolls eyes) is extremely rude and condescending. If you want people to agree with you, don't be an asshole. I personally believe that the pros vastly outweigh the cons, and that it is cruel to leave a pet dog intact. But that's just my PERSONAL belief coming from a welfare standpoint, and I'm not gonna shove my personal opinions down other people's throats and call anti-spay/neuter people horrible names. Spaying/neutering dogs has been a common practice among first-world nations for about 40 years now. If spaying/neutering is SO horrible as you anti-s/n people claim it to be, then we would've known about it a looooong time ago. Think about it.😎 Since there cannot be an answer to this issue, it is up to the owner to research about the pros and cons and make a personal decision. So if that person had done enough research, then we do not have the right to tell them otherwise. PS: I'm not here to debate so I'm most likely not gonna reply. I just wanted to point out how rude you are.
