I live in rural Kentucky and rescued my Turkish van at my local animal shelter. He has the exact same markings and absolutely loves water 😂. He tries to jump in the shower sometimes so I was doing research on why. Turns out he is a super rare cat that would cost up to $1500!! I feel so lucky

Got my boy from the shelter as well. He’s an amazing companion. Always getting compliments. Each time we got to the vet for routine visits, they always comment on how handsome he is. I’m so grateful to have such a sweet soul in my life. Very smart as well. I do have to de-shed him often. Small price to pay.

Damn, I lucked out and got one from the shelter for $100. He was a stray who got hit by a car. He’s healed up and has not lost a step. He is ALWAYS down to play.

I found my Turkish van in a bush by a highway he looks like the prettiest purebred, though long, short hair, broad shoulders, face, and the van pattern obsessed with water

There are several feral Turkish vans in the subdivision I live in. I got one that was rejected from her litter and she is stunning. Softest fur I have ever petted but lord her energy and she is too smart for her own good.

I was not aware of this breed. My Mother has two of them who are siblings. They are gorgeous cats, male and female.

I purchased my two Turkish Van boys as kittens from a TICA breeder in Texas. The Black/White has a fluffy coat. A distinct burglar mask surrounding both eyes. Prefers to sleep beneath a blanket. Only talkative when he wants attention. The Carmel/White has a smooth texture coat. Is the alpha male of the two. Loves to cuddle.. Both enjoy jumping to high places. Neither one seems interested playing in water. Both have wonderful personalities.

Hello, I am Turkish, you cannot buy a Van cat, the breed is under protection, I am sorry they deceived you, but do not worry too much, you can come to Turkey and pet real Van cats and thus leave the house. best regards

@@MaDMuS These Van Cats are descendants of the Cats that immigrated to Europe in the 1960's before protections were put in place by Turkey.

Writing from Turkey, fyi we do not have the ‘Turkish Van Cats’ in Turkey 🤷🏻♀️. We normally have the original Van Cat😊.

I also got my Turkish van from an animal shelter, and the boy is 16 years old now. Slowing down some, but still sort and playful with my 5 y/o Calico. The one fact I disagreed with was about the eating habits and being somewhat picky. I have legit watched Loki eat Brussels sprouts, lol...and darn near anything left unattended is in danger of having 16lbs of white and orange fluff eating on it. I will say that he seems fascinated with water, but has never shown any interest in getting INTO it. He'll sit on the edge of the tub and play with his front paws, but if he falls in he is NOT happy about it, lmao

There iş very big downside about your review. You confess the turkish van cats and van cats are two diffrent breeds. And turkish van cats are hybrid breed. So surely there iş no point telli the People about the myths and history of these cats. These cats are not the ones you tell. And their personalities are so much different. I naturally know these difference becouse i accompanied van cats all my life.they are nothing like you describe. So evet the majör cat association doesnt recognize our cats, we love them and they love their families like there iş no tomorrow. So we are very happy together and we dont recognize the majör cat association back.
