That moment when you're german and you understand the lyrics if the actual original song... for the People who don't know, this song ... wll It is about 99 red balloons, but the balloons.. well.. There were people who thought they were UFO's and tried to attack them.. In the end, the neighbouring countries thought they would be declaring war on them, so they fought back. Eventually it became a huge war and in the end everything was destroyed... Some lyrics in the end say that everything is gone but she has found a red balloon...She thought about someone and let it fly... Yeah that's basically the story in a Nutshell. (I'm not that good at explaining things..) so yeah, a happy tune for an actually pretty dark song '^'

The original story sounds like some the soviet didn't collapsed in 91, at some time in the future east germany celebrate something, launch 99 red balloons, and during the hieght of coldwar the west germany US generals went carzy after thinking that was some sort of red propaganda and made their airwing flying into soviet border and shoot down those balloon, then some misfire happens, and the soviet launch their own airwings to defeat the invaders, and WW3 happens.
