I own several Smith and Wesson knives and a cold steel knife and without a doubt the S&W's loose their sharpness way quicker than a cold steel. There are many factors such as the type of metal used, the heat treatment used ect that make a good knife there are also many different styles and types for different jobs. They are tools and like most things when you find the right tool for the job it makes things much easier and in most cases you get what you pay for, there are obviously many exceptions to this like paying for a brand but a real quality knife is going to cost more money.

There are a few decent branded knives, but you get into real top quality with a blade smith. I got one as a birthday present a few years ago and haven't looked back since. I've gone through branded knives at a rate of about 2 a year since I was 10 from the abuse I put them through, but this knife just eats it up and keeps going.

cold steel should win 100%. im at 3:40 edit: definitely gonna be cold steel. 16:24 edit 2: not surprised. the price may be way different but the cold steel will last much longer than the smith and wesson. the cold steel is known for being a really tough knife. its basically full tang btw it comes down to where that lanyard hole is.

Love the vid! Great job as always. Quick knife throwing tip tho. When you are throwing a knife while holding the blade, hold it so the edge is facing you. That way it cuts into the target as opposed to just trying to stick the tip

You're splitting wood with the knives the hard way. Here's a better way to not destroy your knife: Once you set the knife into the wood to split with a tap, turn the wood upside down and rest the tip of the knife on another log to stabilize it and beat down on the wood you're trying to split . It's faster and easier and you don't beat your knife up!

I’m guessing that the cold steel will do the best. Smith and Wesson is new in the knife industry and the other is just an unheard of brand so I’m rooting for cold steel The cold steel is higher priced because it’s made with a better steel than the smiths and Wesson. It would probably outlast the smith after long term use.

I think the cold steel will win EDIT: I honestly think the Smith and Wesson won because it’s really good and it’s also cheaper, while the cold steel was better in some cases they performed very similarly and the price difference is so big I think the Smith and Wesson is way more worth it, you also can’t forget that the Smith and Wesson came with a sharpening stone and a better sheath the cold stone was just not as good in my opinion

Cold steel will probably out do the other two but you should have had a Mora knife in for good measure. Cold steal uses a much better grade of steel than the SW and over long term use it would show more. I own variations of both. I have yet too have a Cold Steel break unfortunately I can't say the same of the SW.

lol a knife throwing lesson. Be consistent on hold and toss. If it hits backwards take a half a step closer or farther away. Repeat first throw. Keep changing distance by 1/2 step until it hits point first. Once you get used to that distance adjust by whole steps. You will find you start hitting point first always. THEN flip knife 180 degrees and fill in those half step distances. After time you will know where to hold to hit pointy end first :-) Have fun

S&W blades are in general pretty good and trusty for a fair price (I dont think they get a whole lot of recognition for knives) and cold steel, I dont know. See I bought cold steel knives plenty of times. Im not saying they lack in quality or design. But theirs just some things about cold steel that just kinda rubs me the wrong way. It seems like they pull prices out of a hat to determine it. Like for instance, bought their clamshell kukri for 25 bucks. Thing is like a little Sherman tank. But then I bought one of their hunting clip point knives for 110 bucks and I retired it after cleaning one deer with it. Pissed me off because I could have bought 2 buck knives for that price, same design and all, but the edge holds laser sharp longer
